Why Everton should make a move for Moanes Dabour in the summer?

Moanes Dabour has been in terrific form this season for Red Bull Salzburg and has already contributed to 22 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions. His performances haven’t gone under the radar as Liverpool were heavily linked with a January swoop. However, a move never materialised and Moanes Dabour stayed with Salzburg.

The 26-year-old Israeli forward has also netted seven goals in eight Europa League games, demonstrating that he can also perform on the bigger stages as well. Keeping his form in mind, Everton should plot a summer swoop for Moanes Dabour.

Ever since Everton let go Romelu Lukaku in the summer of 2017, scoring goals have been a massive problem for them. The likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have struggled to score goals consistently and fill in the big boots of Lukaku.

The Toffees have lacked goals this term under Marco Silva, due to the absence of a ruthless striker up front and very little creativity from midfield. They have relied heavily on Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson for goals and assists, which isn’t enough for a team challenging for the top eight.

For that reason, bringing in a new centre-forward in the summer is a must and Silva should persuade the Everton board to splash the cash on Moanes Dabour, who has a contract with Salzburg until June 2021.

Dabour is a strong, burly forward who is good in the air whilst possessing a good turn of pace. The Israeli uses his strength to bully the defenders inside the penalty box and is very effective with his hold-up play. A ruthless finisher in front of goal, the 26-year-old is also adept at creating chances for his teammates and the knack of getting into the right place at the right time.

The Nazareth-born star can play on the wing as well, but he is most comfortable when operating in the number 9 position. Apart from his clinical nature in front of goal, Dabour’s decision-making and awareness in the final third is also of the highest quality. He is someone who can create opportunities as well as finish off chances with ease.

Due to his pace, movement and aerial ability, Dabour is a tricky customer to deal with. The Israel international would complement the likes of Richarlison, Sigurdsson and Walcott very well and bring in a different dimension to the Everton attack.

At 26, Dabour is playing the best bit of football in his career. There is no doubting his quality and he is certainly one player Everton should go all out this summer to solve their goal-scoring woes.
