Burnley 4

Burnley secured their return to European football after a 51-year wait. The Clarets will compete in the Europa League next season, marking a big season in the club’s history. Sean Dyche has won the hearts of every single fan with his defensively rigid side, and they will be capable of taking down some of the big boys next season.

Celebrations aside, Dyche must prepare his team to embark upon this new journey. After all, the last set of Burnley stars to play in a European game are probably in their seventies or eighties now.  It certainly won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible.

The club must make a number of signings before the new season. Here, we take a look at two World Cup stars they could look into.

Aleksandr Golovin (CSKA Moscow)

The CSKA Moscow midfielder has been on fire so far, pulling the strings for the Soviets. In 2 games, he has scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists.

Golovin appeared 26 times in the Russian Premier League last season, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists. In fact, the midfielder is one of Russia’s hottest prospects right now. He is a versatile midfielder who can play a number of roles in the middle of the park.

The £25m youngster has excellent ball-distribution skills and is technically gifted as well. In addition to that, Golovin is a set-piece threat, scoring his only World Cup goal from a free kick.

Since the player looks like he’s only going to get better and better, Dyche must not waste time and pursue a move for him.

Denis Cheryshev (Villareal)

Cheryshev is another one of Russia’s stars who has really turned up for it in full form. The midfielder came off the bench to score a brace in their 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia.

The hosts have gotten to a great start, as Cheryshev scored in their second game as well. In fact, the 27-year-old is starting to show strength and intensity in his game, making him a great option for Dyche.

Cheryshev is currently on Villarreal’s books and he made 15 appearances in the La Liga last season, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist. It is clear the player is destined to deliver whenever given the opportunity and Dyche must try to sign him this summer.

Also, the former Real Madrid man is hitting his prime and this could be the best time for Burnley to lure him to the Premier League.
