Predicted Everton XI to face Huddersfield Town: Who should start for the Toffees?

While Everton have played some impressive free-flowing football this season under new manager Marco Silva, they should be disappointed for not boasting a perfect record.

The Toffees have looked menacing while going forward but have often been let down by poor defending, allowing their lead to slip in all three matches so far.

Everton are still unbeaten in the Premier League with two draws and a win but Silva’s team still have plenty of room for improvement in order to challenge for a top-five finish.

Everton face Huddersfield Town at Goodison Park after a 3-1 win over Rotherham United in the League Cup on Thursday. The Toffees must aim to continue their unbeaten run.

Team News

Michael Keane suffered a small fracture to his skull in the previous game against Bournemouth while Everton will have to wait another three weeks for new signing Yerry Mina to fully recover from his foot injury.

Andre Gomes remains on the treatment table to nurse his hamstring injury while James Mccarthy is doubtful for the season with a broken leg.

Phil Jagielka and Richarlison will be out of the matchday squad due to suspension.

Predicted Everton XI to face Huddersfield Town

Manager: Marco Silva

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Jordan Pickford (GK)

Silva went in with Maarten Stekelenburg in the League Cup tie but the English No.1 should return to the team after a good outing against Bournemouth, where he made a couple of impressive saves.

Jonjoe Kenny (RB)

The England U21 international had a good game against Rotherham in the League Cup and Silva should hand the youngster a start in the Premier League. After all, Seamus Coleman has been in terrible form lately.

Mason Holgate (CB)

The youngster kept his composure against Bournemouth and looked comfortable on the ball. Silva should persist with him as regular starts will help the player improve.

Kurt Zouma (CB)

Since Keane fractured his skull in the previous game, it opened the door for Zouma to receive some valuable game time. The Frenchman played well against Rotherham in the League Cup tie and should start against Huddersfield.

Lucas Digne (LB)

Leighton Baines has struggled with his positioning and has often left a lot of open spaces for the opposition to exploit. The veteran’s inability to stem the flow of crosses from the flanks have proven detrimental. Hence, Silva should hand the former Barcelona man a start against Huddersfield.

Theo Walcott (RM)

Theo Walcott had a good game against Bournemouth, linking up brilliantly with Cenk Tosun to register his second goal of the season. The pacy Englishman must replace Sandro Ramirez.

Morgan Schneiderlin (CM)

The Frenchman came off the bench in the League Cup tie and was not included in the matchday squad against Bournemouth. However, Silva should hand him a start as his passing skills could be crucial in the centre of the park,

Idrissa Gueye (CM)

Although the Senegalese midfielder had a good game against Bournemouth, he was not included in the squad for the League Cup tie. However, he should start ahead of youngster Kieran Dowell.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (LM)

The England U21 international scored a brace in the League Cup fixture and is capable of playing down the flanks. He should be the best choice to replace Richarlison at this point.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM)

Gylfi sigurdsson

The Iceland international played in the League Cup tie and had a brilliant game against Bournemouth. He was quick on the ball and good with his distribution. Sigurdsson is a key cog in Everton’s engine and Silva should start with him.

Cenk Tosun (ST)

Although the Turkish centre-forward is yet to score a goal this season, he has been excellent with his link-up play and movement off the ball. He should start ahead of Oumar Niasse.
