WWE SmackDown results, winners, and grades 22 April 2022: Sasha Banks and Naomi get new challengers for their SmackDown Women’s Championships

Gunther won another squash match and Ricochet got his upcoming challenger for his WWE Intercontinental Championship – and other SmackDown results

Sami Zayn acknowledged Roman Reigns while Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton united against the common enemy- The Bloodline.

Charlotte Flair – Ronda Rousey contract signing

Adam Pearce came to the ring to start the show. Charlotte and Rousey entered one by one. Pearce asked Drew Gulak to bring the contract. After coming to the ring with the contract, Gulak tried giving a PowerPoint presentation explaining the rules of an “I Quit” match but Flair asked him to shut up. Flair went on to mention what moves she could use to win the match until she said she would find a way to win like at WrestleMania.

The two women engaged in a war of words as Flair signed the contract first. As Rousey was about to sign the contract, Flair flipped the table on her. The SmackDown Women’s Champion had a kendo stick hidden under the table which she used to assault Rousey.

However, Rousey took it away from her and used it to beat down Flair. Drew Gulak pulled away Rousey as Flair escaped. A frustrated Rousey delivered Piper’s Pit on Gulak and followed it up with the armbar and signed the contract while having Gulak in the hold.

Xavier Woods versus Butch

Woods started the match with some heavy chops and floored Butch with a devastating knee to the face. Butch recovered with a series of forearms and then he started with joint manipulation. Butch continued the assault until Woods tossed him outside the ring and over the announce table.

Towards the closing stages, Woods used a small package to pick up the victory. Post-match, Pete Dunne leaves through the crowd, beating up a security guard on his way.

Result – Xavier Woods beat Butch

Grade – B

Shanky challenges Ricochet for the Intercontinental Championship

Jinder Mahal and Shanky confronted Ricochet backstage. They told him that if he’s a fighting champion, he should face one of them. Ricochet agreed and Shanky stepped up to challenge him for a match which Ricochet accepted. Jinder was shocked giving an expression of how Shanky could cut the line and ask for the match before him.

Gunther versus Teddy Goodz

Another one of those squash matches. Veer Mahaan on RAW and Gunther on Smackdown winning in a jiffy against opponents is going to be the norm for the next few weeks.

Nothing much to say about this match. Gunther won after delivering the Tenryu Powerbomb.

Result – Gunther beat Teddy Goodz

Grade – D

Riddle informed Drew that RK-Bro was going to be among the Lumberjacks in his match against Zayn. Orton and Drew agreed to brush off their past differences. Zayn overheard the conversation.

Jey Uso versus Matt Riddle

Jey Uso took control early on but Riddle came back with a kick and a suplex to even things out. He countered a big move and sent Uso outside. Riddle attempted the dive to take out Uso outside the ring but the latter countered and dropped him on the apron and then the announce desk.

Riddle returned with a big boot and the Floating Bro. Jimmy tried interfering but Randy Orton dropped him on the announce desk. A neckbreaker followed by a Superkick from Jey and he went onto the top rope to deliver the frog splash but Riddle got his knees up in time and got the pinfall victory.

Result – Matt Riddle beat Jey Uso

Grade – A

Natalya and Shayna Baszler challenge Sasha Banks and Naomi

Sasha Banks and Naomi came out to the ring and claimed how they had removed all competition from their way. Natalya and Shayna Baszler came out and challenged them to a match for their SmackDown Women’s Championships.

Backstage, Happy Corbin came up to Madcap Moss and said he would be the bigger man and forgive him but the latter said he had that much chance of aligning himself again with Corbin as the former United States Champion had growing long hair. Moss laughed at Corbin and then left.

Madcap Moss versus Angel Garza

Moss displayed his impressive combination of speed and power. Humberto tried to distract Moss to allow Garza to take a full toll but the babyface recovered and hit a Fallaway Slam and a spear in the corner before delivering a Punchline for the victory.

After the match, Corbin came out and attacked Moss, delivering the End of Days before leaving with the Andre the Giant trophy.

Result – Madcap Moss beat Angel Garza

Grade – C

Sami Zayn went up to Reigns’ locker room where Jimmy was still regretting the loss. Sami acknowledged Reigns and informed him and The Usos that RK-Bro and Drew were teaming up for later in the night and he requested The Usos to be amongst the Lumberjacks.

He also said that Drew and RK-Bro had bad things to say about the Tribal Chief. As Sami left, Reigns ordered The Usos to take his name out of RK-Bro and Drew’s mouths.

We got the third installment of Lacey Evans’ tragic life stories. This time she spoke about how she learned to make up all by herself and how she managed when her mother was not around and she came back home to see her father passed out on the sofa.

Drew McIntyre versus Sami Zayn – Lumberjack match

The Usos made their entrance right before the start of the match. Zayn looked to escape but was caught by the Lumberjacks and tossed back in the ring. Drew started the beatdown before Zayn sent him outside the ring. Fight Night attacked him and sent him back inside the ring.

Zayn had the upper hand in the match after this. RK-Bro was taken out by The Usos and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions excited the stage area afterwards. The Lumberjacks began to brawl as Drew took them out with a dive over the top ropes. Zayn evaded and left through the crowd. Pearce came out and announced a steel cage match for next week between Zayn and McIntyre.

Jinder and Shanky attacked Drew after the match but the Scottish Warrior fought back with a Glasgow kiss to Shanky and the Claymore to Mahal to end the show standing tall.

Result – No contest

Grade – B
