WWE SmackDown Grades and Results: The Women’s Tag Team titles were on the line on this week’s SmackDown.

Dana Brooke and Carmella had the chance to dethrone Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. However, the night was going to be special as WWE celebrated 25 years of Triple H.

There were a few Money in the Bank qualifier matches set too, and here are the results and Grades from this week’s WWE SmackDown.

The tag champions open the show

Big E and Kofi Kingston came out to celebrate becoming the tag champions again. E won his triple threat match and named some top teams they had overtaken in terms of title wins.

It was a crazy opening to this week’s SmackDown (WWE)

However, they were interrupted by Lucha House Party that wanted a shot at the titles. The Miz and John Morrison also came out and pointed out they lost their title in a singles triple threat match.

The Forgotten Sons were the next to come out and things got a little crazy. In the end, Miz and Morrison ran away while the Sons remained standing after taking out Party and The New Day.

Grade B

This was an effective start to the show and highlighted that four teams are in the mix for the tag titles.

House Party need more time to show what they are capable off, but it is interesting to see the Sons getting so much air time on SmackDown when they didn’t actually do a lot on NXT.

Corbin vs Gulak

This was the first of the two Money in the Bank qualifier matches for the evening. Drew Gulak faced off against King Corbin and it was the King that started brightly.

However, Gulak has been excellent since teaming up with Daniel Bryan. He staged a comeback with Bryan watching from ring-side but things took a turn for the worse.

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura attacked Bryan, which distracted Gulak and allowed Corbin to pick up the win.

Corbin beats Gulak

Grade B

Gulak put on another great show with Corbin doing his bit extremely well. It would have been crazy for Gulak and Bryan to be in the same Money in the Bank match, unless there was a feud going on between them.

Sheamus destroys

The normal Sheamus destroys a kid was on show on SmackDown again. Daniel Vidot was the target for the Celtic Warrior, and Sheamus made light work before using a Brogue Kick to end the clash.

Sheamus beats Vidot

Grade C

Sheamus looks like a beast, he has done for a while, but he needs better opponents. This was another squash and he also continued berating Michael Cole, as he has done in the past.

LHP vs Miz and Morrison

Miz and Morrison demanded a match against the House Party after the opening segment of SmackDown.

They got their wish later on in the evening with Miz taking control early on. Lince Dorado was on the receiving end of a beating before he got the tag to Gran Metalik.

Metalik somehow picked up the win with a quick pin and left his challengers in shock.

Grade B

While the match was a typical affair with the heels dominating early on and LHP making it back, the win for the underdogs bumped up the grade.

House Party seem serious contenders for the tag titles, and it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Evans vs Banks

The second Money in the Bank qualifier saw Lacey Evans face off against Sasha Banks. The pair have been in a heated rivalry for a few months, and this match had a lot riding on it.

There was some distraction from Bayley that didn’t allow Evans to pick up the win early on in this clash. However, worse was to come as Bayley and her best friend Banks were involved in a bit of a bust-up which allowed Evans to punch her ticket for Money in the Bank.

Things were made worse for Bayley as she got a super kick from Tamina after the match.

Evans beats Banks

Grade B

The Southern Belle came out all guns blazing as Banks tried to intimidate her with some photos. This was a great match as the feud continued between Banks and Evans, while cracks seem to be appearing between Bayley and Banks.

Women’s tag titles on the line

A video package of the history between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt took place before this match.

Brooke and Carmella had been on a bit of a surge in recent weeks and took on Bliss and Cross for the tag titles.

The quartet put on a decent show with a lot of offence but it was Bliss and Cross that picked up the win with a new finisher too.

Grade B

Bliss and Cross beat Brooke and Carmella

It would have been crazy for Bliss and Cross to drop the titles just a week or two after WrestleMania. What this match did do was show that Carmella and Brooke are serious as a tag pair but their thoughts will be on the Money in the Bank match.

Lights turned off

Triple H and Shawn Michaels came out to celebrate 25 years of The Game. This was basically a montage of bloopers, jokes and past matches.

For some reason, Stephanie McMahon and Ric Flair were face-timing during the segment. Thankfully, Vince McMahon came out to shut down this madness, he also brought up some of Hunter’s worst storylines and turned off the lights to end the show.

Grade Z

This is why WWE Creative gets beaten up on forums etc. They could have made this a serious segment about Hunter’s fantastic career and also spoken about what the future holds for WWE.

However, they wasted a lot of time for nothing and even McMahon coming out to stop all this didn’t click at all.
