WWE NXT Results, winners, and grades, 28 June 2022: NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 contenders match

WWE NXT Results, winners, and grades: Nikkita Lyons will finally make her return to WWE’s developmental brand after having to pull out of the NXT Women’s Breakout tournament due to an injury.

Sanga will go head-to-head with Xyon Quinn while Indi Hartwell will take on Kiana James. Giovanni Vinci also returns to action as he will face Ikemen Jiro.

Let’s start with the NXT results for 28 June:

Katana Chance and Kayden Carter versus Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez – NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 contenders match

Kayden Carter and Cora Jade started the match. Carter got off the blocks quicker. She tagged in Chance and they began dominating Jade. However, Jade soon began showing her flurry of offensive moves to rattle Chance. Jade and Perez made some frequent tags and isolated Chance. This was until Carter managed to get the tag in. Carter once again took back control of the match and tagged Chance.

However, once again Jade and Perez dominated her. Perez and Jade were both tossed out of the ring as Carter and Chance stood tall before we went into a commercial break. After returning from the break, Carter and Jade isolated Perez with some double-team maneuvers. Carter locked in a half Boston Crab on Perez. After the former tagged in her partner, Chance came in and locked in the full Boston Crab. Carter hit a Superkick to Perez and tagged in her partner. They were about to hit a double-team move but Jade pulled Carter out of the ring. Perez hit the Pop Rocks on Chance to pick up the victory.

Joe Gacy and The Dyad give an offer to Diamond Mine

Joe Gacy and The Dyad walked into the locker room where The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile were loosening up. Gacy told Julius, Brutus, and Nile that if Roderick Strong doesn’t appreciate them, then they can join him instead. However, the Diamond Mine rejected the offer saying that they might have their arguments but the faction is like a family. Strong and Damon Kemp appeared. The leader of Diamond Mine called Gacy stupid. He said that Diamond Mine are ready to show him their bond anytime. Gacy said he will see how their bond helps them later on in the show.

Toxic Attraction were interviewed backstage. Jayne said that they were not at all impressed with the performance of Jade and Perez. Nikkita Lyons came out to confront Mandy Rose. Lyons said she has her eyes on Rose. The returning Lyons will face Mandy Rose later on in the night.

Giovanni Vinci versus Ikemen Jiro

Ikemen Jiro started the match on a strong note with his unique offensive moves. Giovanni though took control of the match with a German Suplex followed by a few hard chops. Giovanni hit a Springboard Tornado DDT followed by a devastating sit-down Powerbomb to pick up the victory.

Winner – Giovanni Vinci

New NXT UK Tag Team Champions Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs along with Fallon Henly came out to the ring

Brooks Jensen talked about the time when Briggs chose him and formed a tag team. He thanked Briggs for choosing him. Fallon Henly called for some beer to celebrate their triumph.

Pretty Deadly came out to the ring and talked about how they had a 285-day reign as the NXT UK Tag Team Championship. Brooks and Briggs struck first and cleared the ring to stand tall. This feud should be an intriguing one as the former NXT UK Tag Team Champions would be looking forward to winning back the titles.

Indi Hartwell versus Kiana James

James applied a headlock but Hartwell soon freed herself and used a couple of armdrags. This was until James began attacking the mid-section of her opponent. Hartwell hit a series of punches and kicks to get back the control of the match. Hartwell attempted Pretty Savage but James managed to roll out of the way. James covered Hartwell and got her feet up on the ropes to get extra leverage to pick up the win.

Winner – Kiana James

Grade – B

Wes Lee cut a promo from backstage. He said he wears his heart on his sleeve and no one will be able to stop him from finding his inner peace in the ring and Trick Williams will have to pay for talking trash about the kind of human being he is.

Roderick Strong and Creed Brothers versus Joe Gacy and The Dyad

The Creed Brothers made frequent tags to use double-team maneuvers to wear down a Dyad. Gacy gave some words of motivation and it worked for the Dyad as he began wearing down Julius. Gacy’s henchmen dominated the match as Julius seemed rattled. All six men got in the ring and the three Diamond Mine members delivered Overhead suplexes to their three opponents. Diamond Mine stood tall in the ring as we went into a commercial break. After returning back to action, Gacy was in cruise control dominating Brutus.

Gacy hit a DDT and tagged in a Dyad. Brutus tried to fight out of the corner but unfortunately, it did not work. Gacy hit a Manhandle Slam as Brutus desperately needed to make the tag. Dyad delivered a neckbreaker and went for the cover but Brutus kicked out at 2. Brutus finally managed to get the tag to Julius. The fresh Julius was on a roll and seemed all set to finish the match until Strong tagged himself in. The Diamond Mine got involved in an argument among themselves and The Dyad took advantage by planting Strong face-first to pick up the victory.

Winners – Joe Gacy and The Dyad

Grayson Waller had got a basketball and some other posters signed by Carmelo Hayes. The Australian star had tricked the NXT North American Champion into signing a contract that would force him to defend the title at the Great American Bash. So it was official. Hayes versus Waller at The Great American Bash for the NXT North American Championship.

After the match, Roderick Strong and The Creed Brothers got into a war of words backstage. Strong said that he will team up with Damon Kemp and challenge The Creed Brothers for the NXT Tag Team Championship at The Great American Bash.

Sanga versus Xyon Quinn

The two men got involved in a brawl even before the match got underway. A number of referees had to keep the two apart. Eventually, as the match got underway, it was all going right for Sanga. He dropped Quinn on the top turnbuckle on two different occasions and followed up with a bodyslam. Sanga tried to hit an elbow drop but Quinn rolled out of the way.

This allowed Quinn to muster some offense but Sanga soon began to dominate once again. A bodyslam followed by a chokeslam and Sanga won the match comprehensively.

Winner – Sanga

Mandy Rose versus Nikkita Lyons

Rose attacked Lyons’ knee but that only gave the NXT Women’s Champion some momentary control. Lyons tossed Rose across the ring on a couple of instances as the leader of Toxic Attraction was forced to take a breather outside the ring.

Jayne and Dolin distracted Lyons and this allowed Rose to take control of the match. Rose sent Lyons into the steel steps. Back inside the ring, the two women went back and forth before done trash-talking from the champion fired up Lyons. Rose hit a missile dropkick and attempted the Jumping knee but Lyons moved out of the way.

Gigi and Jacy got involved and Toxic Attraction began assaulting Lyons. Jade and Perez came out to make the save. The heels were sent outside the ring as Jade, Perez, and Lyons stood tall.

Winner – Nikkita Lyons

Grade – B

Solo Sikoa received some words of praise from Apollo Crews. Xyon Quinn confronted them. Quinn said that a lot has changed since Crews last appeared in NXT. He advised Crews to walk away. Crews said that the future for Quinn looks bleak before exiting the scene.

Cameron Grimes and Bron Breakker come face to face

Wade Barrett was in the middle of the ring. He introduced Breakker and Grimes into the ring. Breakker requested Barrett to give him and Grimes the chance to talk with each other. The former Nexus leader exited the ring.

Grimes told Breakker that he has achieved a lot thanks to his father. Breakker said that he is bigger and stronger than Grimes. However, Grimes cut him off by saying that he has a bigger heart. Grimes said that Breakker’s father Rick Steiner also didn’t have a heart. Breakker was furious as he attacked Grimes. However, the latter managed to turn things around and sent the NXT Champion into the corner. The ropes collapsed and Breakker seemed to have gotten injured. Referees and medical staff came out to attend to the champion. Grimes said that maybe he could not have beaten Breakker if the latter was at a 100% but now he was no longer fully fit.
