WWE NXT Results, winners, and grades, 21 June 2022: NXT North American Championship is on the line

WWE NXT Results, winners, and grades: Tony D’Angelo will challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT North American Championship. Solo Sikoa will square off against Grayson Waller while Alba Fyre will look for some revenge after Lash Legend took her out from behind last week.

Let’s start with the NXT results for 21 June:

Solo Sikoa versus Grayson Waller

While coming down the ramp, Grayson Waller said he is sick of Solo Sikoa. He hailed himself as the greatest first-generation talent. However, Sikoa wasn’t going to keep listening as he went to the ramp and attacked Waller. As both men entered the ring, the match got underway. Sikoa delivered a bodyslam but the Australian star began to shove his opponent’s head on the middle turnbuckle. Sikoa lifted Waller on his shoulders looking for the Samoan drop but the latter exposed the turnbuckle and managed to escape.

The younger brother of The Usos flattened Waller with a clothesline and continued dominating the match. Waller stomped at Sikoa’s feet and sent him out of the ring. As Waller looked to take control, Sikoa flattened his nemesis with a back elbow. We went into a commercial break, and upon returning, we saw Waller dominating the match in the middle of the ring. Waller planted Sikoa with a DDT and went for a cover, but Sikoa kicked out at 2. Waller got up on the middle rope and took too much time taunting the crowd.

Sikoa knocked him off the rope and began to build momentum. Waller tried a rolling Stunner but Sikoa countered into a Samoan drop. As Sikoa went up on the top rope, Waller rolled away. Eventually, Waller evaded an onrushing Sikoa, who went back-first into the exposed steel. Waller followed up with a rolling Stunner to pick up the win.

Winner – Grayson Waller

Grade – B+

Tony D’Angelo was interviewed with family and Legado Del Fantasma for company. The Don of NXT said that if he doesn’t manage to win the gold later on the night, there is going to be hell to pay for. Santos Escobar ensured him that there is nothing to get worried about.

Kayden Carter and Katana Chance versus Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz

Kayden Carter hit a dropkick to start the match but Feroz and Leon soon took control of the match. Carter managed to make the tag to Chance and both women used some in-tandem offense on Leon. Chance and Carter made some frequent tags and kept isolating Leon. Feroz finally managed to get the tag and began to turn things around for her team. Carter delivered a Superkick on Feroz and tagged in Chance, who hit a 450 stomp from the top rope for the victory.

Winners – Kayden Carter and Katana Chance

Grade – B

Wes Lee thanked the WWE Universe for having his back. He said he has had a rough few months going from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. He was in tears as he said that he was trying to show everyone that he could stand up on his own two feet. Trick Williams interrupted. He came out to the ring apron and said that Wes Lee is the one who left his brother behind. Lee said that Williams is happy to play second fiddle to Carmelo Hayes. Williams wanted nothing to do with Lee as he exited the stage area.

We saw a backstage promo from Tiffany Stratton. She said that Wendy Choo hasn’t ever been to a gym. Stratton warned Choo to not get in her way ever again.

Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp versus Legado Del Fantasma (Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde)

Strong and Wilde began the match. Strong had a headlock on Wilde but the latter managed to make the tag as the Legados flatten the leader of the Diamond Mine with a double-team maneuver. Kemp got the tag in. Strong slapped Kemp in order to fire him up. Strong hit a Backbreaker on Wilde and Kemp turned Wilde inside out with a clothesline. Kemp hit a bodyslam but Wilde managed to get the tag on Toro.

The Mexican star was all fired up as he went up on the top rope and delivered a dropkick to Strong. Two Dimes tripped Toro by mistake and Diamond Mine took advantage and picked up the victory.

Grade – B

We saw Apollo Crews reading out from his diary about overcoming his fears. Crews saved a young man who was being mauled by a couple of goons.

Toxic Attraction make their way to the ring

Mandy said that last week Roxanne Perez, Indi Hartwell, and Cora Jade got a fluke victory last week. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne continued in the same vein insulting the inaugural NCT Women’s Breakout Tournament winner. Jade and Perez came out to the stage area. Rose warned Perez not to get ahead of herself and cash her contract in on her. Perez said that she and Jade had a chat last week. The former ROH Women’s Champion said that she will become the NXT Women’s Champion someday in the future.

However, winning the NXT Women’s Championship with her best friend will be equally sweeter. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter came out to confront Jade and Perez at the stage area. They said that they aren’t done with Toxic Attraction yet and referred to Jade and Perez as the “flavor of the month”. Jade said that they seemed pretty much done at In Your House. All hell broke loose as all four women brawled as Toxic Attraction looked on in delight from the ring. Referees and officials had to intervene to separate the four women.

Indi Hartwell was being interviewed backstage. Kiana James entered the fray and asked why valuable television time was being wasted on a Superstar who jumps from friend to friend and is unable to achieve things on her own. Hartwell said that James should get in the ring next week and she will make the newcomer eat every word coming out of her mouth.

Edris Enofe versus Cameron Grimes

The match began at a thrilling pace. Enofe hit a dropkick and went for a cover but Grimes kicked out. Grimes hit a thunderous kick to Enofe’s chest. Grimes hit a crossbody off the top rope and went for a cover, but Enofe kicked out at 2. The former NXT North American Champion hit a couple of thunderous kicks to Enofe’s chest. This fired up Enofe. he delivered a running Uppercut followed by a knee strike to rattle Grimes.

Enofe went up on the top rope and attempted a 450 splash but Grimes rolled out of the way. In the end, Grimes hit a Cave In to pick up steam as he gets ready to challenge Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship. After the match, Grimes shook hands with Enofe and gave him a hug to appreciate his effort in the match.

Brooks Jensen versus Von Wagner

Brooks Jensen delivered a nice spinning heel kick but it was all Von Wagner afterwards. Wagner delivered a big boot and focused his attack on Jensen’s left hand. Wagner smashed Jensen’s hand multiple times on the ring apron. Jensen looked to fight back with a big boot followed by a series of rights followed by a clothesline. Jensen executed a DDT off the middle rope and went for the cover. However, Wagner kicked out at 2. Eventually, it was Wagner who picked up the victory.

Winner – Von Wagner

Grade – C

Bron Breakker congratulated Grimes backstage for his performance against Enofe. He said that he is waiting to face this Grimes at the Great American Bash. Grimes told Breakker that he shouldn’t wait because if this Grimes comes to the Great American Bash, then we will have a new NXT Champion.

Alba Fyre versus Lash Legend

Fyre hit a dropkick but Legend took control choking her opponent on the bottom rope. Fyre tried to build momentum but Legend seemed to be a step ahead. The heel dropped Fyre with a sidewalk slam. Fyre began to build momentum but Legend used her opponent’s baseball bat to hit her in the throat to get herself disqualified.

The message was sent though. This rivalry is far from over.

Carmelo Hayes (c) versus Tony D’Angelo – NXT North American Championship

We went into a commercial break, and upon returning, we saw Tony wearing down his opponent in the middle of the ring. Hayes fought back in his own athletic way. D’Angelo once again prevented Hayes from building moment as he dropped the champion with an overhead suplex. Hayes hit a knee to D’Angelo and followed up with a code breaker. Both men went back and forth as the crowd started chanting “NXT”.

Towards the closing moments of the match, Two Dimes got up on the apron and distracted the referee. D’Angelo crawled to Escobar and wanted something. Escobar took out brass knuckles from his pocket but instead of handing the weapon to D’Angelo, the Mexican second-generation luchador gave it to Hayes. The A Champion used it to good effect as he delivered a right hand to flatten D’Angelo. Hayes got the pinfall victory as D’Angelo was irate with Escobar’s actions.
