WWE NXT Results and Grades: NXT featured a huge triple threat match for a ladder match that William Regal announced.

Keith Lee relinquished the NXT North American title and a ladder match would decide the winner. Bronson Reed had already made his way to the match but a triple threat clash was going to serve as the main event on NXT.

However, we start this WWE NXT results and grades piece with a huge women’s tag team clash:

Shirai and Nox work well

Io Shirai and Tegan Nox teamed up to take on Dakota Kai and Candice LeRae. Shirai was attacked by Kai even before the bell rang and their respective partners came out to brawl.

The match certainly was incredible with all four women having some great moments. It was Shirai and Nox who got the win in the end via some great teamwork.

Grade A

This was an excellent match to start off NXT with all four women doing well. Kai vs Shirai will take place sometime in the future but this was an appetizer to the rivalry they have.

Gargano vs Strong

There were a couple of clips before this clash. One of Adam Cole losing his cool at the Pat McAfee show and then a replay of how Reed made it to the NXT North American title ladder match.

Johnny Gargano and Roderick Strong had faced off last week in the triple threat match against Reed, and the pair tore the house down again.

Ultimately, it was Gargano who got the win over Strong with a DDT.

Grade A

Another excellent match on NXT but that was expected as Gargano and Strong are brilliant in the ring. It was great to see them do a clean match and not resort to cheating.

Blackheart vs Martinez

There were some segments of The Undisputed Era trying to get their act together after Strong’s loss. The next match saw Shotzi Blackheart come out with her mini-tank. Robert Stone and Aliyah accompanied their latest signing, Mercedes Martinez.

Both women had some great moves in the ring but it was Martinez who got the better of Blackheart.

Martinez beats Blackheart

Grade B

Martinez as part of Stone’s brand is interesting and she isn’t going to take any nonsense. Her getting the win over Blackheart also is good for her, but this match was a little too short.

Lee addresses Kross

NXT Champion Keith Lee came out to address Karrion Kross’ attack on Dominik Dijakovic last week. The champion calls out Kross but Cameron Grimes comes out for some reason. He served as a distraction with Scarlett Bordeaux appearing, however, Grimes tried to attack Lee.

The champion was able to destroy Grimes before Kross appeared on the big screen and challenged him to a title shot.

Lee accepted the clash and told Kross to pick a date and time.

Grade B

This was expected after Kross’ actions last week, and Lee was serious as ever. Grimes wasn’t needed in this segment though, as WWE make another poor move with him.

Imperium vs Ever-Rise

NXT Tag champions Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium faced off against Matt Martel and Chase Parker.

This was a run-of-the-mill tag match with all four men shining. In the end, it was Imperium who picked up the win over Ever-Rise.

However, The Undisputed Era came out and attacked Imperium with Cole saying they run NXT.

Imperium beat Ever-Rise

Grade B

The match itself was good but getting the Era to attack Imperium is great too. Imperium vs the Era should be a fantastic rivalry and it will be interesting to see how that goes.

Scott vs Atlas

Isaiah Scott took on Jake Atlas with both trying to get the better of the other. It was Swerve who got the win despite Atlas hitting some great moves such as a headlock DDT.

Scott beats Atlas

Grade B

This was an interesting clash as we need someone to challenge Santos Escobar for the Cruiserweight title. Scott has always been close to a proper push and it will be interesting to see how things go.

Triple threat match

The main event saw Finn Balor, Dexter Lumis and Timothy Thatcher clash. While Lumis stayed in character and didn’t engage at the start, this allowed Thatcher and Balor to do their bit.

It was Lumis who got the win after a great performance by choking out Thatcher.

Lumis beats Thatcher and Balor

Grade A

All three men put on a show as they tried to book their place for the ladder clash. It was interesting to see NXT side with Lumis as the weird superstar made his way to TakeOver.
