However, we start off the WWE NXT New Year’s Evil results and grades piece with another huge battle.

Priest vs Kross

Karrion Kross took on Damian Priest in the first match of the show. Both stars tried to injure the other with some heavy hits and submission attempts.

However, Priest’s ribs were sore from the beating and that helped Kross get the win over his rival.

Grade B

The fight was a decent way to start off NXT but it felt like something was missing. That came from Kross since this was his first intense match after returning from injury while Priest was at the top of his game despite the loss.

Escobar vs Metalik

The NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Santos Escobar, was initially struggling against Gran Metalik.

Escobar then got into the groove and almost ripped his rival’s mask off. Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza tried to interfere but Lince Dorado was there to save Metalik.

However, this allowed Escobar to hit his finisher and that was it for Metalik.

Escobar beats Metalik

Grade B

It was unlikely that Escobar was going to lose the title to Metalik, not due to talent but due to the sudden fight being set up.

Metalik did a decent enough job but this match could have been a little better.

Li vs Cortez

Xia Li finally made her mark after undergoing a lot of brutal training as she faced Katrina Cortez.

A mysterious woman was watching from the stage and Li got an easy win after a few kicks.

There was more news where William Regal confirmed that the injured Timothy Thatcher couldn’t face Tommaso Ciampa.

Li beats Cortez

Grade B

The repackaging of Li and Boa certainly is interesting and WWE might have hit gold with them.

There is still a long way to go but they at least are now worth watching.

Last woman standing

The pair of Ripley and Gonzalez didn’t waste time and started having a brawl on the outside.

Gonzalez was tied to a fence but she broke off and then hit Ripley with the bell. Both stars used glass doors and even steps to try and hurt their rival.

Dakota Kai tried to save her friend but Ripley attacker her rival and trapped her in a locker. It seemed that Gonzalez was going to lose out but she made a comeback.

Another LED screen was also broken before Gonzalez was able to get the win and stand up after a huge powerbomb.

Gonzalez beats Ripley

Grade A

This was an awesome match and possibly one of the best we might see in 2021.

Both women tried to destroy their rival in any way possible. The pace was quick and even Kai coming in wasn’t a big distraction in all this.

Gonzalez came out as the obvious winner as she finally outdid Ripley and it will be interesting to see what is next for her.

Gargano and LeRae team up

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae made their way to the ring and they celebrating ending The Curse too.

Gargano added that he and Austin Theory would team up in the Dusty Rhodes Classic. However, Gargano and LeRae were to face Kushida and Shotzi Blackheart in a match that no one expected.

Indi Hartwell and Theory tried to save Gargano and LeRae but it was Blackheart and Kushida who got the win.

Kushida and Blackheart beat Gargano and LeRae

Grade B

This might have been put up as a sudden match but it was entertaining. It is very difficult to go wrong with Gargano and LeRae and The Way certainly are an entertaining bunch.

Kushida and Blackheart getting the win is also interesting and this could be the start of some great things for the pair.

Balor vs O’Reilly

Balor and O’Reilly both came out looking supremely confident and this match was just like their previous outing.

O’Reilly and Balor put on some heavy hits and the champion also hit his rival in the jaw.

Balor had broken his jaw in the last fight between the pair and he was dominating his rival. However, O’Reilly was able to make a comeback but Balor seemed set to pick up the win with his finisher.

Balor then targeted O’Reilly’s jaw and ribs to get the upper hand in the fight. The Prince was busted open too but was just about able to keep his title.

Balor beats O’Reilly

Grade A

This was a fantastic way to end the match as both stars gave it their all for the win. Balor targeting O’Reilly’s jaw and ribs made for a smart move and a submission win was certainly an interesting way to end the match.
