WWE shooting vignettes for missing star Aleister Black

As reported by PWInsider, WWE are reportedly shooting vignettes for Aleister Black who has been off screen since getting drafted to SmackDown last year.

Black, real life Tom Budgen, has been with WWE since 2016 where he was hugely over. Following a 108-day run as the NXT Champion in 2018, he would go on to form a tag team with Ricochet and win the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Soon after, Black was pushed to the main roster where his early run wasn’t as memorable. However, some bangers with Buddy Murphy got him over with the fans while he also picked up major PPV wins over the likes of AJ Styles as well as Bobby Lashley last year.

However, a heel turn followed, leading to a feud with Kevin Owens which never really got off the ground. After eating successive losses to KO, Black was drafted to SmackDown in October. But he has been absent from the screen ever since.

Coincidentally, his disappearance came around the time his real-life partner Thea Trinidad (AKA Zelina Vega) was released by WWE. However, Black still seems to be in the plans for the pro-wrestling behemoth.

As per PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, WWE have already started shooting vignettes with Black, hinting at a potential repackaging and a return to the screens in the imminent future. The report adds that the supposed vignettes are based around his childhood.

Black has not been used well by WWE. The 35-year-old looked top-notch during his run on NXT but his main roster stint has been largely a dud barring the few matches against Murphy.

Hopefully, WWE creative finds a way to make best use of the Dutchman’s undoubted talents going forward.
