Vince McMahon changed ending of The Fiend vs Randy Orton at WrestleMania 37
In a new story broken by Fightful Select, it has been claimed that Vince McMahon changed the finish to the WrestleMania 37 match between The Fiend and Randy Orton at the last minute.
The Fiend vs Randy Orton has been one of the most bizarre storylines on WWE programming. It has seen The Fiend getting burnt alive by Orton to Alexa Bliss bringing him back at WWE Fastlane PPV last month, not to forget all the black goo-spitting and fire-balling that all went on in between.
However, coming into WrestleMania 37 it seemed like the whole feud will be put to bed. The Fiend’s grand entrance only served fans to further believe that Orton will eat the pin and we will all move on from this.
But, that was not to be. And for any fan who follows WWE, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Vince McMahon decided to meddle with the finish late in the game and change the whole ending.
The Fiend was supposed to go over, Orton off screen
The first ending that was in place would have seen The Fiend Bray Wyatt pick up the win with WWE then writing Orton off screen for some time. However, that was not be as McMahon and his right-hand man, Bruce Pritchard intervened and decided to go with a “surprise” ending.
The said surprise finish was the one we got where in Bliss turned on The Fiend as she sat spewing the aforementioned black goo from her face to distract Bray Wyatt just enough for Orton to hit the RKO and score the win.
Up until that, The Fiend had no-sold every move that Orton had tried. The Viper had needed to burn him alive to win last time out. But an RKO was all it took this time out for him as he won the fight, ran away before Bliss and The Fiend stared at each other and then vanished.
The report says that the management was happy with how the finish was executed. But the same cannot be said about the fans, with the live audience booing the segment while the performers themselves were said to be confused.
