Veteran wrestler Sonjay Dutt reportedly signs deal with AEW this week

Sonjay Dutt has signed with All Elite Wrestling less than one day after leaving WWE as a backstage producer. The wrestled turned producer was working with WWE since 2019.

Dutt joins AEW after a two-year stint

According to PW Insider (h/t Wrestling Inc), Dutt was backstage for AEW Dynamite tapings at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. He could have decided to make the move before being part of the releases this year.

Dutt began his work as a producer for Impact Wrestling in April 2017. Since then, he has been part of the backroom staff handling from behind the scenes.

The former TNA star has been part of the wrestling business for years now as a wrestler in various promotions. Dutt was born in Mumbai, before moving to the United States of America as a youngster. He will look to continue his good work in AEW, after Tony Khan gets one more man from WWE.

AEW has already seen many legends and Superstars come to the new promotion after ditching Vince McMahon and his team. Dutt will be grateful in his time at WWE, having seen some of the biggest matches in the company in the last two years.

Dutt began with Jeff Jarret’s TNA Impact in 2003. Dutt competed in the X-Division for the company in many years with the highlight being the Impact X Division Championship in 2017. He has also been a part of Global Force Wrestling winning the NEXGEN Championship.

He is one of the smoothest and high flying wrestlers seen on IMPACT. An injury in 2018, ended his career early, but he seamlessly moved into production beginning with the company where he started wrestling.

Dutt has also seen some of the biggest matches in the X-Division in his time on IMPACT. He will always be known for his in-ring skills and his career ending early due to injuries.
