Seth Rollins believes on-screen chemistry with partner Becky Lynch is different

Seth Rollins is gearing up for his match against WWE Hall of Famer Edge at SummerSlam 2021.

The pair’s match was confirmed only a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown. A rivalry 7 years in the making.

Back in 2014, Rollins brutally attacked Edge in a notorious segment. However, the pair never squared off inside the ring. This will be the first time.

Elsewhere, Rollins wife Becky Lynch is expected to return to the promotion this year. Lynch hasn’t competed since May 2020 due to pregnancy. She gave birth in December 2020, and is currently back in perfect shape. However, the date of her return is still uncertain.

There was a time when Rollins and Lynch teamed up in the WWE. It was right after WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

The real-life couple began a feud with Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans which eventually culminated in a title match at Extreme Rules. Lynch was the Raw Women’s Champion and Rollins was the WWE Universal Champion.

The lengthy match saw Rollins brutalize Corbin after he hit his partner Lynch with End of Days. Rollins pinned Corbin to win the match.

Brock Lesnar, then entered the ring, cashed-in his MITB contract and pinned Rollins after an F5 to win the Universal Championship.

Although, Rollins and Lynch’s chemistry weren’t that much of a big miss, Rollins explained in a recent episode of Sports Media with Richard Deitsch that he might never work with Lynch on-screen.

Seth Rollins says Becky Lynch “doesn’t need anybody”

Rollins explained why on-screen chemistry with Lynch was different. He justified the same by pointing out examples of his own gimmicks like Drip God, Monday Night Messiah, which weren’t a big hit.

Rollins then explained that Lynch’s character “is a loner and doesn’t need anybody.”

He was quoted as saying:

“Even pre-trip Drip God, Visionary, Monday Night Messiah; it didn’t work. Her character is a loner. She doesn’t need anybody. To see that character in a relationship doesn’t feel good. It never felt good…Especially now, I don’t know what it would look like.(Becky’s) character is not built for a number two, it’s really not. There’s no harm in it, but I don’t think we need to touch on it ever again.” [via Fightful]
