WWE adds another trademark for Roman Reigns name and merchandise

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is going to have one of his new gimmick officially trademarked for merchandise as the company filed a patent to the USPTO.

They filed a trademark for the item “Head of the Table” in relation to Reigns’ character on SmackDown. This is in addition to the existing ‘ Tribal Chief’ moniker that has seen him take over as the undisputed face in WWE.

The official statement from the office reads (h/t Wrestling Inc):

“The literal element of the mark consists of HEAD OF THE TABLE. The mark consists of standard characters, without claim to any particular font style, size, or color.”

Reigns is currently among the highest sales in merchandising, with his current range of t-shirts of the Tribal Chief. The company is looking to increase sales as this new trademark means that the branding for Reigns can increase further. The trademark is going to range from tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear etc. to bandanas.

Reigns, meanwhile dominated Rey Mysterio on WWE SmackDown in the moved Hell in a Cell match on Friday Night.

The match was preponed earlier this week, so as to keep Reigns vacant for the WWE Hell in a Cell PPV on Sunday.

Were the broadcasters pleased with the decision?

According to reports, Peacock and USA Network are unimpressed with the move of the PPV match to Friday night. The move also benefits FOX who have been streaming SmackDown after signing a long-term contract.

“I can tell you for a fact that USA Network is very unhappy that the Hell in a Cell match is happening on SmackDown. I’m not gonna say they are fuming but they are very unhappy about it.” (h/t Andrew Zarian)

USA Network believes that the match was fit for the WWE Hell in a Cell PPV, but the last minute changed moved it to two days earlier. However, the event will take place on Sunday with two titles on the line inside the barabaric structure.
