Daniel Bryan claims Roman Reigns is the best WWE performer in the ThunderDome era

Speaking to talkSPORT, former WWE champion Daniel Bryan claimed that his upcoming opponent and Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been the best performer in the ThunderDome era.

The WWE ThunderDome was introduced in August last year as a way for fans to virtually attend WWE programming after the pandemic had struck. Along with the introduction of the ThunderDome, WWE also introduced us to the heel Roman Reigns.

The former ‘Big Dog’ turned heel on his return on the WWE SummerSlam PPV event before going on to win the WWE Universal Championship at Payback, thus establishing himself as ‘The Head of the Table’.

Since then, Reigns has only grown from strength to strength with his amazing character work as well as in-ring exploits. The ‘Tribal Chief’ has put on some fantastic bouts along with Jey Uso as well as Kevin Owens in the past few months.

Reigns is now set to take on Daniel Bryan with his Universal Championship on the line at WWE Fastlane this Sunday. The match comes after the ‘Head of the Table’ had squashed Bryan at the Elimination Chamber last month, with the American Dragon goading Reigns into giving him another shot at the title.

Ahead of their match this weekend, Daniel Bryan has gone on to admit that Roman Reigns has been the best performer in WWE during the ThunderDome era.

“The Roman Reigns that we have now is absolutely incredible. From a physicality standpoint, what he brings to the ring and what he’s bringing from a character perspective, I think he’s the best performer in the ThunderDome era as far as WWE goes and I’m excited to see where I stand on Sunday.

“He’s on a whole new level of physicality now. I wrestled him last month at Elimination Chamber and smashed me [laughs]. I gotta come back and do some smashing back, I gotta redeem myself!”

Bryan also went on to add that Reigns had been at the top of the list of the fights he wanted after coming back from his retirement. He also added that he is very excited to be main-eventing a PPV event for the first time in close to two years.

“I’m wrestling Roman Reigns in the main event of Fastlane on Sunday, it will be my first pay-per-view main event in almost over two years so I’m super excited. When I came back from retirement, there was a handful of matches that I really, really wanted. And I thought the biggest one, the top one on my list was one with Roman Reigns.”

In a very short time at the Elimination Chamber, the two had a gripping contest. Likely to be given much more time on Sunday, fans can certainly expect fireworks from these two at Fastlane. Safe to say, Bryan isn’t the only one excited ahead of this fight.
