Ric Flair shares why he wasn’t fond of the pregnant angle with Lacey Evans but still opted to do it
At the start of 2021, WWE RAW had a new storyline emerge between Ric Flair, his daughter Charlotte Flair, and Lacey Evans.
The plot involved Flair betraying his daughter and Evans cozying up to ‘The Nature Boy’ to make Flair jealous and to learn a few things to better her career.
But all of that was brought to a halt a few weeks into it when it was announced that Lacey Evans was pregnant. However, WWE involved Ric Flair in that angle as well.
They didn’t state explicitly that the kid was his, but they didn’t not do it. ‘The Southern Belle’ is, of course, pregnant with her real life husband.
This drew mixed (mostly negative, if we’re being honest) reactions from the crowd at the time this was done. The story itself was completely discarded after Evans went into her hiatus.

And talking to Ariel Helwani on ESPN MMA this week, Flair revealed that the talent wasn’t fond of the storyline, but he agreed to it so that he doesn’t inconvenience anyone.
“In this instance, I didn’t [feel comfortable with Charlotte and Lacey Evans]. The one thing I’ve learned is you’re not going to win a war when someone has got their mind made up. She most definitely didn’t like it but the one thing that I can say about me is I always said yes. I didn’t want to be the guy that was always going ‘Oh, that isn’t perfect for me’.”
And later on, he added why he himself was uncomfortable with it. He says it was because Evans’ husband and daughter are her life and also joked about how Vince McMahon still sees him as the Ric Flair of yesteryear.
“She’s a really nice girl and all that, but it didn’t fit this time. We made the best of it but ultimately she is pregnant with her husband now. It was never anything personal. I barely know her and her whole life is her husband and her daughter. I didn’t like that one. To him [Vince] I’m always going to be the kiss stealin’, wheelin’ dealin’, you know what I mean? Which is great because he likes that.”
Charlotte is now involved in a more meaningful storyline with Rhea Ripley and Asuka for the WWE RAW women’s title. As for Evans, she is expected to be off our screens for a while.
