WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry is ‘All Elite’ after signing with AEW
Former WWE star Mark Henry opened up on joining AEW in a move that shocked the wrestling world.
The WWE Hall of Famer made his debut for rival company AEW at Double or Nothing and well, he seems to be excited about his new role.
“I have been fortunate to experience a great deal of success in my pro wrestling career… I’m excited to join the broadcast team on AEW RAMPAGE, and I can’t wait to work with the incredible roster at @AEW.”

Henry, who made his WWE debut in 1996, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018, after announcing his retirement post WrestleMania 33 in 2017. His final on-camera appearance in WWE came in January 2021 on a Legends Night edition.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion will also work in talent development for AEW.
AEW President Tony Khan praised Henry’s career and spoke about what dimension Henry brings to the company.
“It’s an honor to welcome Mark Henry to AEW,” Khan said.
“Mark came into pro wrestling already established as a legendary powerlifter, and he applied his greatest tools, his cerebral approach to sport and his unprecedented work ethic, to become a legendary pro wrestler as well. Henry brings 25 years of wrestling experience to AEW, building the company’s elite scouting and coaching team . AEW continues to sign and develop the industry’s top independent stars globally. As AEW continues to grow, both the programmings and the size of the fanbase seems to grow rapidly in a short span of time.
WWE legends joining AEW
Henry’s analyst role appears similar to that which Paul Wight (formerly known as The Big Show in WWE) currently performs on AEW Dark: Elevation every week.
Wight’s first acts in his new home was to introduce ex-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian. He made his debut at Revolution in March under the ring name Christian Cage.
The Big Show, Christian and now Mark Henry have all made the decision to quit WWE in 2021. In late 2020, Sting signed with AEW, coming out of retirement and had his first match in over five years at the promotion’s Revolution on March 7, 2021,
