Kurt Angle had to kiss Stephanie McMahon prior to 2000 SummerSlam to keep the feud between himself and Triple H going
Kurt Angle and Triple H were a part of some of the most interesting storylines during the early 2000s.
A large reason for their feud revolved around Triple H’s then on-screen girlfriend (now real-life wife), Stephanie McMahon.
Angle, Triple H and the Rock were set to square off at SummerSlam 2000. The contest was set to headline the event.
In order to add fuel to the fire, Angle had to kiss Stephanie to blow up the feud between him and Triple H.
In a recent episode of the Kurt Angle Show, Angle explained how nerve-racking it was to kiss Stephanie, especially in front of her father Vince McMahon who was just 3 feet away.
Angle said:
“It was so nerve-racking. Not only that, the director was Vince McMahon. He was three feet away in a chair. I’m kissing Vince McMahon’s daughter right in front of him, of course I didn’t want to slip her the tongue. I didn’t know what to do, I was so nervous about it because Vince McMahon is just standing there looking and he’s wide-eyed like I want to see this. I was like holy crap, this is so weird. It was a great moment for me because it did so much for me but it was really uncomfortable.” [Wrestling Inc]
It is worth noting that, Mr. McMahon was present since he wanted to direct the kiss backstage, before it could go on air.
Kurt Angle reveals what Stephanie McMahon told him after the kiss
To kiss Stephanie, Angle had to constrict his lips in such a way that his tongue didn’t roll out.
He revealed what Stephanie told him after going off the air. The current chief brand officer of WWE had told Angle that he kissed like a fish.
Angle had then told Stephanie that there was no other way it would have gone ahead since her dad was watching.
The former Olympic Gold medalist was quoted as saying:
“What happens [when we go off the air], Stephanie says ‘Kurt, you kiss like a fish.’ I said ‘Stephanie, what the hell did you want me to do? Your dad is watching us.’” [Wrestling Inc]
Angle had already narrated the same incident in his podcast a couple of months ago.
