Former WWE NXT Champion Keith Lee also expressed his disappointment and took to Twitter, sympathizing with The Ring General over the apparent name change.

“Man….if what I’m hearing is real…. Poor Walter.”

WALTER faced off against Roderick Strong in the main event of this week’s NXT 2.0. The former interrupted the ring announcer and declared that the winner of the match was “Gunter”. Unfortunately, WWE’s Twitter account or website has yet to acknowledge WALTER’s new name.

Former WWE star Lance Storm also reacted to the name change

Many superstars have posted their reactions on social media regarding the name change, including former WWE star Lance Storm, who also took to Twitter and mentioned that this “Gunther” name was too much of a stretch.

“Need I remind everyone Vince saw me as the partying dancing guy. Gunther is too much of a stretch all of a sudden?”

The wrestling community has not accepted the name change as Gunther Stark was a captain lieutenant serving the navy for Nazi Germany during World War II. The announcement was heavily criticized by the fans.

Earlier this week, WWE had trademarked the name Gunther Stark, which speculated a new character was about to be debuted and possibly related to NXT talent Zoey Stark. But it seems like it has been embarked for the 34-year-old.
