Jon Moxley opens up on WWE creating another Shield with current stars

published

Jon Moxley had a successful stint with the WWE as Dean Ambrose between 2011 and 2019

The Shield were one of the most popular stables in modern WWE history. Jon Moxley, then known as Dean Ambrose was one of the three members of the team alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

Their indomitable reign from 2012-2014 predominantly as a heel-team is etched in the memories of each and every WWE fan. They were a massive hit, and in fact single handedly carried the promotion during their heydays.

Following their disbanding in 2019, the WWE has struggled to establish a stable even remotely close to the Shield.

However, Moxley who now plies his trade in the NJPW-AEW Collab, claimed that the WWE could still make up something like the Shield, with the current stars.

Moxley also went on to explain how they (the Shield) had come into the WWE as nobodies since the NXT was still nascent during their times.

Moxley told Metro.co.uk:

“Anything could work. I mean, it’s different because you’re a known commodity on NXT now, whereas when we came in we were complete nobodies. So, there’s a benefit to that. On the one hand, nobody knows who you are, but on the other hand, you have a completely fresh slate, you’re a complete mystery. You can come right in and starting whooping whoever’s ass you want!” [via Metro.co.uk]

He then continued:

“‘The Shield might be the last big act that came from that old way of doing things before NXT really. You can do anything with anybody if you commit to them.” [via Metro.co.uk]

Jon Moxley explains how the Shield went from strength to strength in no time

Everyone wanted to have a piece of the Shield during their prime. Their stunning performances in the ring, grabbed a truckload of eyeballs.

Moxley went on to explain how all the top guys in the WWE started expressing their desire to be a part of the Shield’s storyline.

“Very quickly, people started wanting to work with us because we were having good-ass matches. All of a sudden, all the top guys were wanting to get in six-mans with us because we were having good matches. And we’d make them look good! Me and Seth would bump our asses off for these dudes, you know?” [via Metro.co.uk]
