“They did fire me” – Jim Johnston opens up on not being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

Jim Johnston has created some of the most iconic WWE music and themes

Wrestling fans love a good entrance theme. It is what sets the tone for who is about to appear in front of them and what exactly is about to go down.

When you hear the bell toll, you know that The Undertaker is coming out to bury someone. And if it’s the sound of glass breaking, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is about to enter the fray and hand out a bunch of Stunners with beer flying everywhere.

And those sounds have stayed with fans for decades, even going on to become a massive part of these wrestler’s personas over the years.

Hearing the first few seconds of the entrance music of your favourite wrestler making his WWE comeback is a feeling like no other and whether we realize it or not, the music makes up for a massive chunk of any WWE event.

The man behind some of the most iconic tunes in WWE, Jim Johnston, was on Insight with Chris Van Vilet earlier this week.

WWE fired Jim Johnston and he thinks that makes a Hall of Fame induction uncomfortable

Johnston is responsible for the entrance themes of legends like The Undertaker, The Rock, and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin while also providing thousands of soundtracks for innumerable WWE feature films, documentaries, and video games.

But he was fired by the company in 2017 after 32 years with them and says that a Hall of Fame induction is something that is not coming for him if it hasn’t until now.

“I think they haven’t already, they’re not going to [induct me in the Hall of Fame]. And it’s one of those pesky things where you don’t want to be petty about it, but it’s like, ‘you guys did fire me, and now you want me to come back and put you over by doing the Hall of Fame’?”

He also mentioned that it would be a very uncomfortable moment for him to attend any such ceremony because of the rivalries he has forged in the company over the years.

“Would it be an honour? sure. But at the same time, would it be uncomfortable? It certainly would be uncomfortable because there are a number of people there that I would be thrilled not to see again and not to have to shake their hands and pretend they were all friends. It’s not a big aspect of my life now, I’m loving what I’m doing.”

Typical workplace politics, Jim… If you work somewhere for three decades there is bound to be friction. But fans would love to see Johnston inducted into the HOF without an iota of doubt.
