WWE provided an injury update on Ilja Dragunov with NXT PPV – TakeOver 36 scheduled to take place this Sunday

Ilja Dragunov took on Roderick Strong in the latest episode of WWE NXT. The Russian wrestler showed the heart of a true champion.

Despite being down and out with a nasty gash above his right eye that spilt blood all over the ring, Dragunov earned a much-needed confidence-boosting victory ahead of NXT TakeOver 36.

Following the match, Dragunov needed eight stitches and received the same. He was also medically cleared for the PPV event on Sunday, this weekend. WWE themselves provided the injury update on their website.

Dragunov will be taking on Walter this weekend on NXT TakeOver 36 for the NXT United Kingdom Championship.

Walter is the longest-reigning NXT UK Champion in the history of the promotion.

After having won the championship soon after his debut in 2019, Walter’s reign surpassed the 2-year mark, earlier this year in Apil.

Dragunov will be looking forward to creating an upset.

NXT TakeOver 36 features several other championship matches too

NXT TakeOver 36 is headlined by Karrion Kross vs Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship. Kross is the defending champion, and will be accompanied by Scarlett.

The NXT Women’s Championship will also be on the line when Raquel Gonzalez the defending champion takes on Dakota Kai.

There is also a bet match involving Ted DiBiase. Cameron Grimes accompanied by DiBiase must beat LA Knight. In case he loses, DiBiase will become Knight’s butler. The match is for the Million Dollar Championship.
