Former WWE Referee Mickie Jay Henson passed away at the age of 59

Veteran WWE and WCW referee Mickie Jay Henson demised at the age of 59. Henson was one of the most experienced and professional referees to have ever served both WWE and WCW.

Henson’s death was first confirmed by the Cauliflower Alley Club. The club took to Twitter to share the news of his demise. It was stated that their longtime friend Henson has died at the age of 59-year-old. The club sent their sincerest condolences to Henson’s family.

Reports stated that Mickie Henson departed on Monday, February 14, 2022, due to the novel virus. Reportedly, Mickie was also diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in 2008 and was batting it for months. Although, fortunately, Mickie was able to defeat cancer.

Who was Mickie Jay Henson?

Born in 1963, Henson was widely known for his stint as a referee under WWE and WCW. In the early 1990s, Mickie was an enhancement talent on WWF television. With support from Mike Graham, Gordon Solie, and Steve Keirn, Henson started off as a referee.

He officiated his first match in 1987 at the Eddie Graham Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. His inaugural match as a referee was between Mike Awesome and Bob Cook. He had previously stated that he was fortunate enough to learn from the best in the business, such as Mike Graham and Dick Skater.

Mickie then joined WCW in 1992 and went on to referee some of the promotion’s most memorable matches, including the ending of Goldberg’s historic undefeated streak against Kevin Nash at Starrcade 1998. Later he was signed by WWE in 2005 where he was placed on the Raw brand officiating matches including wrestler Kurt Angle, John Cena, and more. Later, he was shuffled between both ECW and Smackdown.
