Xavier Woods paid tribute to Brodie Lee on Raw and is excited for the special AEW Dynamite episode too
AEW Dynamite will air a special tribute for Brodie Lee on this week’s show as the wrestling world is still reeling from his death.
Lee, who joined AEW earlier in 2020, became the TNT Champion after defeating Cody Rhodes. However, he lost that title soon and wasn’t seen on TV for a while.
It came as a huge shocked that he passed away due to a lung issue, which was not Covid-19 related, and many stars paid tribute to him by sharing some great stories from his WWE and indie days.
Xavier Woods, part of the New Day, was extremely close to Lee (AKA Luke Harper in WWE). Lee often played games with Woods on his UpUpDownDown channel and the New Day star also paid tribute to Lee by using his trademark clothesline and also had an armband with his name.
Many WWE stars also used Lee’s trademark message to start off the show and others also used his finishing move.
However, the big talking point has been AEW’s tribute show and Woods was excited for the same.
A celebration of Lee’s life
The AEW show will feature some incredible matches with the top stars of the company. This was done with the help of Lee’s family, especially with his son, Brodie Lee Jr.
The company has already done a great deal by signing Lee Jr. to a contract and the match list for the show is excellent as well.
Woods also reacted to a special vignette created by the company and added that this was going to be a celebration of Lee’s life.
This reaction from Woods got a lot of fans talking. WWE has been criticised for their tribute to Lee on Raw, despite the stars doing their bit.
Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca also spoke about how WWE could have done more for a star that made his name in the company.
While Woods is someone who was close to Lee, he was willing to speak for his friend and even pushed a rival promotion.
That might not sit well with some of the WWE executives, but many fans were pleased that Woods took this step for one of the best people to have graced the professional wrestling world.
