WWE made error with Goldberg vs Drew McIntyre Royal Rumble clash claim LaGreca and Ray

Did WWE get it right by making Goldberg take on Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble?

Goldberg challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

This week’s RAW saw a number of WWE legends appear on the Red Brand once again. This included Goldberg, as well as Ric Flair, who went on to have his own little moment on the show.

However, the talk of the town was Goldberg intervening Drew McIntyre’s post-victory celebrations. The Scotsman successfully defended his belt against former NXT Champion Keith Lee in a gruelling encounter.

Just after the main event concluded, Goldberg entered to call McIntyre out challenge him for the belt at Royal Rumble, which is scheduled to take place on January 28.

However, the fight made no real sense to many fans as the two had no feud before or during the episode.

Goldberg fighting Randy Orton instead of Drew McIntyre would have made more sense

The same point was picked up by Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca on this week’s episode of the Busted Open Podcast. Ray says that The Chosen One did not show an “ounce of disrespect”, and hence Goldberg should have confronted Randy Orton instead.

“The thing that didn’t make sense to me is that Goldberg is saying that you don’t have any respect, and he is saying that to Drew McIntyre. Well, Randy Orton is the one who walked around disrespecting the legends…”

LaGreca is also left dumbfounded by the disconnect between the script and the actual storyline that was going on.

“it’s almost like they had the wrong players at the end of that show. It’s almost like it should have been Goldberg and Randy Orton. not Goldberg and Drew McIntyre.

Nevertheless, seeing Goldberg back in the ring, fighting against someone like McIntyre would be really exciting, even if the storyline didn’t make sense.
