Former WWE Champion Edge scheduled for Summerslam return

Edge is rumoured (h/t Wrestling Inc) to have a match at Summerslam this year after his last appearance at WrestleMania 37. He competed in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Universal Champion against Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.

The Rated-R Superstar is on a contract with limited appearances in a year and he has already featured on WWE SmackDown this year.

Edge makes his return to WWE TV on the 16 July episode of SmackDown. The show is the first on WWE’s summer tour. The Rated-R Superstar is a 7-time World Champion and has won numerous title in his career.

He has also won the Royal Rumble in 2021 and was part of a bitter feud with Randy Orton. Orton and Edge faced each other in three PPVs till it was finally settled.

SummerSlam is one of the biggest PPVs of the year and having Edge back would be great. However, it is to be seen who he goes up against. There is also another major change coming up for the former champion, according to reports.

Is Edge returning a babyface?

Edge turned heel during his last feud with Reigns and Bryan. With Reigns as the big heel on the blue brand, it was a very fierce rivalry which went to the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All.’

He is reportedly going to feud with a SmackDown talent who can be booked with him before Summerslam. Edge is most likely going to change into a babyface, so, a change of scenery is needed for him.

Edge recently signed a new 3 year contract with WWE for significant money, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
