Will Dominik Mysterio take his father Rey Mysterio’s mask?
Dominik Mysterio might turn into a heel in a new storyline for the father-son duo. Vince McMahon is open to the idea of turning Dominik heel and claim to be superior to his dad Rey Mysterio (h/t Cageside seats).
Dominik’s career has been influenced by his father a lot. It is hard to think of a scenario when Dominik would’ve made it as big without Rey’s help in the WWE. Dominik’s first story line came as in the possible son of Eddie Guerrero. The father-son duo have been in this journey together since Dominik’s arrival.
Rey understands that a day will come that Dominik will have to do this by himself. There have been speculations around Dominik turning into a heel and turning against his father to make a name for himself. As revealed earlier this move is backed by McMahon.
Will Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio split ways?
Rey has made it clear that he does not want this to happen. In an interview with talkSPORT, Mysterio said:
“I think in a perfect world I would love to step out of the ring, and kind of just pass the torch onto my son. You know a lot of people talk about the possible turn, and father vs. son. For me, it would mean much more to take my mask off and say, ‘Here. It’s your time. I’m stepping away. Continue with this. Write it.’”
Rey is certainly in no mood of adapting to a story line where his son Dominik turns against him. He’d rather pass the torch onto his son himself by giving him his mask. The duo currently are together as a tag team under the SmackDown brand.
