Daniel Bryan calls out WWE over cutting talents on high salaries

Bryan Danielson, who was known as Daniel Bryan during his WWE stint, was forced into retirement in 2016 due to an injury but made his return at AEW.

WWE released 18 wrestlers last Thursday, bringing the total number of wrestlers dropped by the company this year up to 72 (with one being rehired).

Talking on “The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani“, Danielson talked about his father-in-law and said that he feels that wrestlers should have the right to give their notice whenever they are not happy.

“In some ways I get it. In some ways, I feel like it’s not right. It’s hard because my father-in-law is the head of talent relations.”

“One of the things that I’ve always had a hard time with, and I’ve been fired from WWE twice so I kind of get this – it’s one thing if somebody does something bad but like for example, if you’re under a contract with WWE and you’re not happy or you’re not happy with the company or whatever it is, if they can fire you and give you 90 days [then] you should be able to give them 90 days to be released from your contract.”

Danielson also revealed that he is under a three-year deal with AEW, confirming he is able to work in Japan as long as he gets clearance from AEW and that the company is his top priority in terms of dates.

Former WWE champion Chris Jericho is the only other wrestler to compete in Japan while under an AEW contract, primarily due to the pandemic restricting overseas travel.
