A new report claims Stephanie McMahon’s break from WWE was due to her abilities being questioned.
More reports reveal that Stephanie McMahon stepping away from WWE was much more than taking time for family. There is a much more elaborate story to it.
The recent updates that followed the decision were very vague. Still, they claimed that it was a private and personal matter that contributed to Stephanie’s move. In the latest episode of We’re Live Pal” Andrew Zarian, Dave Meltzer, Bryan Alvarez, and Garrett Gonzalez discussed the matter further. Zarian gave some new insights into Stephanie’s absence.
“[I had a] very bizarre conversation, I’ll tell you that. I didn’t expect that phone call. It was a phone call that kind of veered into a discussion about Steph. So I asked and I was like, ‘Hey, anything I could add to this? What’s going on?’
“And, you know, some of the comments, I was shocked. One being that people internally, and this is coming from someone in the know in WWE, this wasn’t like a guy in catering, the comment was that internally, there was doubt put on Steph, her abilities as an executive. And a lot of this started after she absorbed some of Michelle Wilson’s responsibilities after she left, one being ad sales and sponsorship. And the comment that I found interesting was that they mentioned that the investors were questioning why they weren’t performing as well. And internally, there was some questioning as to why that wasn’t performing.” (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
Backstage plans for WWE following Stephanie McMahon’s exit
According to a recent report from PWInsider, it was stated in the company’s meeting that Stephanie “needed time” after going through a tough time regarding her husband’s health over the last year. Additionally, it was said that the company would hire new people to fill her roles.
“In regard to Stephanie McMahon, it was stated that she “needed time” after everything her family had been through over the last year (obviously, the Paul Levesque health issues) and that there would be a few future hires to help fill her roles but those won’t be happening for a few weeks.”
It will be interesting to see when Stephanie McMahon makes her return to duties.
