Adam Cole unsure about future with WWE after latest contract news
Former NXT Champion Adam Cole’s WWE contract reportedly expires this week, in the wake of rumors of him signing for rivals’ AEW.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Watch Radio, Cole’s contract with WWE will expire this weekend, which means that he is not yet a free agent and cannot negotiate with other companies.
Fightful Select also reported that Cole’s contract with WWE will expire on Friday. WWE is expected to provide at least one more contract offer to allow him to stay. Cole lost to Kyle O’Reilly in a 2-Outof-3 Falls match at NXT TakeOver 36 on Sunday. It is generally believed that this is Cole’s last fight on NXT, and there is a lot of speculation about his possible contract with AEW.
After Cole lost to O’Reilly, the Young Bucks changed their Twitter bio to mention Cole, and Kenny Omega posted a photo of Cole on Instagram.
Cole has worked closely with The Young Bucks and Omega on “Ring of Honor” and “New Japan Pro Wrestling”, and is known to be their friend. Cole’s girlfriend Britt Baker is the current AEW Women’s World Champion.
Will AEW make another huge signing in 2021?
AEW have absolutely dominated the wrestling scene in 2021 with the acquisition of some big names in the wrestling household. The biggest coup in CM Punk is a huge statement of authority from Tony Khan to WWE and other promotions.
Since its launch in in 2019, former WWE stars have signed with AEW. The listincludes Miro, Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo. Former WWE star CM Punk made his AEW debut last week to the shock of wrestling fans, and Daniel Bryan is rumored to be signing with AEW as well.
We will see if AEW reaches new levels if they secure Adam Cole. He is definitely one of the biggest talents in WWE NXT history. It is a matter of time after which Cole’s future location will be decided.
