Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre took to Twitter and reacted to this massive news. He mentioned that it was his mission to bring a major show to the UK, and he did it finally.

2 years ago I became WWE Champion and made it my mission to bring a major show to the UK… WE DID IT!!!

The two-time WWE Champion is a native of Scotland and has been outspoken about his desire for a pay-per-view in the UK. He even started a social media feud with heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury to take on the match at a UK PPV.

WWE to host an event in the UK after 30 years

United Kingdom will be seeing its first WWE stadium event in 30 years on September 3. The event will occur at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales making it the first large-scale event in the UK since the SummerSlam 1992, which packed around 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London.

The September 3 show in Wales will mark WWE’s second stadium show in just a month as SummerSlam is set for July 30 at the Tennesse Titans Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is what WWE’s senior vice president has to say regarding the decision to hold the UK event in Wales,

“Principality Stadium is the perfect place for a major event, hosting our amazing fans from Wales, throughout all of Europe, and around the world. The weekend will be filled with various WWE experiences that we believe will leave a lasting memory, on par with SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium in 1992.”
