In a recent episode of 83 weeks podcast, Nash revealed an incident about another WWE legend, Shawn Michaels. The two-time Hall of Fame inductee was at the peak of his powers during the 90s.

And Nash, revealed in the episode about a time when Michaels wanted to move to the WCW, but stopped himself since he began feeling that he would retain the ‘cream of the crop’ spot in the promotion (WWF).

Nash said:

“It was the fact that [Michaels] had gotten that top spot and he knew he would be in the mix for that top spot.” [Wrestling Inc]

Kevin Nash reveals which wrestler he wanted to join alongside him at WCW

Nash knowing that Shawn Michaels wouldn’t come, felt that the Undertaker would’ve hopped along with him.

In a hope that ‘Taker’ would join him, Nash had then told ‘The Dead Man’ that he had to change his gimmick. And that was when The Undertaker became the ‘American Badass.’

Nash was quoted as saying:

“Taker was the one that I was trying to get. I’m not saying [he would’ve come], I just told him, I said ‘Man, you’ve got to change up your gimmick. You got no bargaining power whatsoever as long as you stay in that Undertaker gimmick…I’m not saying that made him turn into the American Badass, but I’m just saying that American Badass you can take pretty much anywhere you want to go. All of a sudden, they had to pay those guys money, if [WWE] wanted to keep them, they had to pay them money.” [via Wrestling Inc]

The American Badass was in total contrast to ‘The Undertaker’s usual gimmick of being a ‘Dead Man Walking’. The American Badass’ bike gimmick entered the ring with some uber-cool shades and a bandana wrapped around, with Limp Bizkit’s Rollin playing in the background.
