Wolves Opinion: Why Wolves should go all out to sign Edwin Gyasi?

According to a report from SportsWorldGhana, Wolves are one of the clubs interested in signing CSKA Sofia star Edwin Gyasi in the summer. The other clubs keen on his services are Besiktas, Stuttgart and Hannover.

Edwin Gyasi, 27, has impressed in Bulgaria this season with four goals and eight assists for his side. That form has apparently caught the eye of a host of clubs, including Wolves.

In fact, Wolves have renewed their interest, with SportsWorldGhana revealing that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had tabled a bid in the January transfer window, although CSKA Sofia apparently turned it down.

We are coming to the end of this 2018/19 Premier League campaign and several clubs have started plotting potential summer transfer targets. Wolves also appear to look out for reinforcements after enjoying a fantastic season in the top-flight upon promotion last year.

The Wanderers have made a huge impact this campaign and could find themselves in the Europa League qualifiers.

Edwin Gyasi

It’ll be a huge achievement if Nuno’s side makes it to Europe next season. Competing with European teams won’t be an easy task, meaning Nuno has to bolster his squad over the upcoming transfer window. And rekindling of interest in Edwin Gyasi suggests Wolves are planning to add more firepower to their attacking ranks.

Indeed, it’s a step in the right direction, as the Midlands outfit need a back-up for the likes of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota. Jimenez and Jota have formed a deadly partnership up front but there is very little in terms of cover for the duo. Adama Traore has been a big-money flop, while Ivan Cavaleiro has done well in patches.

Thus, Nuno should go all out to sign Gyasi in the summer transfer window. Naturally a winger, the Ghanaian is also adept at leading the line or playing as a secondary striker.  He is a technically-gifted player, who is blessed with explosive pace and exquisite dribbling skills.

That combined with his movement, crossing abilities and decision-making in the final third make him a top player.

Verdict

Wolves need a couple of quality additions more if they are to do well in the potential Europa League campaign next season. Signing a player like Gyasi from CSKA Sofia would be a gamble for Wolves, but Nuno should definitely go ahead and try thrashing out a deal for the Ghanaian forward.
