Wolves should beat their Premier League rivals to sign Kemar Roofe

According to Birmingham Live, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Southampton are all keeping a close eye on Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe.

The 25-year-old Englishman has been one of the cornerstones of Leeds’ surge to second place in the Championship this season, registering 7 goals and 2 assists from 11 appearances.

Roofe has established himself as one of the big names in the Championship this term and has all the qualities to take the next step to the Premier League. As things stand, he would be a welcome addition to all the three clubs in question.

While Southampton and Crystal Palace have made a dismal start to their Premier League campaign this season, Wolves have impressed in the top-flight after winning the Championship last term.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men suffered three back-to-back defeats before securing a 1-1 draw with Arsenal over the weekend. Regardless, the new boys still sit 11th in the standings after an impressive start to the campaign. On the contrary, Southampton and Crystal Palace are not really relegation contenders but have struggled to score goals.

It will be important for Wolves to add some new faces in January to strengthen their squad and Kemar Roofe is definitely a good option. Wolves need more depth in their ranks to capitalize on their solid start and the 25-year-old Championship star has all the attributes to add that cutting edge to their attack.

Roofe is a tactically versatile attacking midfielder who has the ability to operate on either side of the pitch or through the centre as a supporting striker. However, he has performed exceedingly well in his role as a centre-forward for the Peacocks this season.

Operating as a winger, he likes to move into the central areas of the pitch, allowing him to have a crack at goal from outside the box. His pace can trouble the defenders while his sound technique can wreak havoc through the opposition’s backline.

Roofe is a fearless attacker and excels in direct football and takes on the defenders, unafraid of losing possession. He is also a good passer of the ball and fancies his vision to find the perfect pass to release his teammates into free spaces.

To add to that, the 25-year-old is also good in the air and always tries to get his head to the ball from set-pieces and crosses. And last but not least, he is a solid finisher, renowned for his clinical nature in front of goal.

To put things into perspective, Wolves need him to add to their attack. Helder Costa has been in prime form this season while Diogo Jota has blown hot and cold. To be honest, they are quality players who are good at link-up play but they do not have the same composure as Kemar Roofe in front of the goal.

Leeds would not want to let him go midway through the season as it would deal a huge blow to their hopes of securing promotion but Wolves should use their financial muscle to test their resolve.
