Why Wolves made the right decision by loaning out Morgan Gibbs-White
According to Birmingham Mail, Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White joined Swansea on a season-long loan last week.
The 20-year-old, however, left for the Championship side after he had penned down a new three-year contract at Molineux. The youngster spent the majority of his last season on the sidelines, making just 16 appearances altogether.
A Wolves academy graduate and a member of the Wolves side that won promotion under Nuno Espirito Santo in 2018, Gibbs-White, however, has failed to establish himself at the Molineux.
Wolves under manager Nuno currently have as many as four midfielders in their ranks. Among the four, veteran Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves remain the side’s most experienced midfielders while they have Leander Dendoncker as well.
The 24-year-old, like Moutinho and Neves, has become one of the regulars in the side due to his consistency in the middle after he was acquired permanently by Wolves last summer.
Dendoncker had earlier impressed at the Molineux while on loan in the 2018-19 season, which eventually forced Nuno’s side to make his move a permanent one. Wolves also have young midfielder Bruno Jordão, who joined them from Lazio last summer. However, he is yet to prove his potential, having made just four appearances for them so far.
First-team chances limited for Gibbs-White at Wolves
With the club already well-stacked in the middle, having as many as four midfielders in the ranks, it is pretty clear that first-team opportunities will be very limited for Gibbs-White under Nuno in the nearby future.
The youngster has failed to establish himself at the Molineux despite making his debut way back in January 2017. Thus. it is not a big surprise that Wolves decided to send him out on loan to Swansea this summer. In fact, it will offer the young Englishman more game time unlike his time at Wolves.
This will also in turn prove to be beneficial for Wolves as it will help Gibbs-White gain more experience and ready him for the upcoming challenges at the Molineux, if there’s any. Hence, Wolves made the right decision by sending Gibbs-White on a loan for the whole of next season.

Verdict
First of all, Wolves have enough depth in their midfield and it is not an area that needs improvement. That said, Gibbs-White’s departure to Swansea on loan will not affect Nuno’s side next season. Moreover, he is just 20 and still has plenty of time in his career. Also, regular game time at a lower division side such as Swansea will also help him develop his game.
