Manchester United Opinion: Why Solskjaer should sign Yusuf Yazici?
According to a report from The Sun, Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici.
An academy graduate of Trabzonspor, Yusuf Yazici made his senior debut for the club back in 2015. Since then, he has been a regular member for the Turkish outfit. The 22-year-old has been in good form this season, bagging three goals and two assists to help Trabzonspor sit fourth in the Super Lig table.
Now that the Turkish midfielder has enjoyed a good season in the Super Lig, should Manchester United make a move for him in the summer?
Without any second thoughts, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must include Yusuf Yazici in his squad rebuilding at Old Trafford.
Ander Herrera has confirmed his departure from the club at the end of the season, while Juan Mata could also follow suit, as his contract expires in the summer. Nemanja Matic, one of the senior figures at United, has disappointed this season and so has been the club’s summer marquee signing, Fred.
Thus, it becomes quite clear why Solskjaer needs to focus more on revamping the midfield over the summer. And a player like Yazici can certainly fill Herrera’s void in the United midfield.
Yazici is a versatile no.10, who is actually capable of playing in various positions across the midfield.
The Turkey international has flexibility to his game and has played in almost every midfield position this season, but certainly appears most comfortable in the middle of the pitch. He is a complete midfield player, who will not only add quality to the United midfield but also squad depth.
The 22-year-old is good at timing the late runs into the box to help the attackers.
The work rate is right up there to aid the team without the ball. Yazici uses the ball very well and can destroy teams with one incisive pass through the defence. His attacking prowess, coupled with defensive awareness and tenacity makes him an exciting prospect to look forward too.
The Trabzonspor midfielder’s passing intelligence indicates that he is someone who can control the pace of the game with extreme ease, and can hence become a valuable player for any team.
Verdict
Yazici has shown his quality in the Turkish Super Lig and while the transition to the Premier League won’t be easy, there’s a lot of potential for him to grow at United.
