Why Wolves should take a gamble by signing Thomas Lemar
According to AS (h/t Sun), Wolves have been linked with Atletico Madrid misfit Thomas Lemar. The Frenchman was offered a deal by FC Porto but he has apparently rejected it since he wants a move to the Premier League.

Born in Guadeloupe, Lemar started his journey with hometown club SS de Baie-Mahault before rising through the ranks of SM Caen. He then spent two seasons with the latter’s senior set-up before joining Monaco in the summer of 2015.
He went on to become a key figure of the squad and helped Monaco lift the Ligue 1 title in the 2016/17 campaign, whilst also helping them reach the semifinals of the Champions League that season. He impressed with Monaco and his performances earned him a spot in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the 2018 World Cup.
The Frenchman moved to Atletico Madrid in a £52.7m deal two summers back but has since struggled for consistency.
Lemar could provide depth to Wolves’ attacking unit
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been brilliant in the last two seasons since their return to the top-flight. However, they still lack the cutting edge to make it bigger in European competitions. And thus, it is necessary for them to bring in reinforcements and add depth to the squad.
At the moment, Wolves have a plethora of wingers in their ranks. Diogo Jota and Adama Traore have been in sensational form for the Black County side. Daniel Podence, who struggled earlier, came in handy in the latter stages of the last campaign. And Pedro Neto is another young talent who can do well.
And adding Lemar would only boost their options. He may not have been at his best but he was one of the best creative players during his time in France. He managed to provide double figures in assists for two seasons in a row. He may have struggled in Spain but the Frenchman is just 24 and still has time to revive his career.
He could be Wolves’ creative head in the middle of the park if he regains his touch. Joao Moutinho is the only established attack-minded midfielder in the squad. Lemar could be a useful addition in the position, apart from operating on the flanks.

Verdict
With limited options in the creative department, it is clear that Wolves are in need of attacking midfielders in the squad. And they should take a chance with Lemar, who needs the right opportunities to develop. He could provide them with some much-needed depth and quality.
