Why Tottenham would be wise to offload Moussa Sissoko amidst Inter Milan interest
According to Inside Futbol (h/t Football.london), Inter Milan are hoping to land Moussa Sissoko of Tottenham in case they are unable to persuade Chelsea to sell N’Golo Kante. Spurs are looking to clear out some players after a good bit of spending in the last month.

Moussa Sissoko is a 31-year-old French midfielder who plays for Tottenham Hotspur. He started his youth career at Esperance Aulnay in 1995 and moved to Red Star in 1999. Finally, he moved to Toulouse’s youth setup in 2003.
He was promoted to the senior side in 2007 and from then on, he cemented his place in the team. 220 games followed, where he scored 24 goals and assisted 15 more (source – Transfermarkt).
Newcastle signed him in 2013 as he made his bow in the Premier League. He played more than 130 games for them, scored 12 goals and assisted 19. In 2016, Spurs came calling and he made the switch to London. So far, in 162 games, he has scored 4 goals and assisted 15.
Sissoko is quite a prominent member of the French national team. He has 63 caps to his name to date.
What should Mourinho do?
It’s no secret that Spurs have spent big bucks on players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty, Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon. They should now be looking to clear out some of the personnel that no longer are needed by Mourinho. This would help them balance the books.
Among those players could be Moussa Sissoko. With the addition of Hojbjerg in midfield, the midfield looks much better. Add to that Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso, Gedson Fernandes, Dele Alli and you have a stacked midfield.
Verdict
There is not a lot to be lost if Sissoko does indeed make a move. At 31, his best days are past him. He will likely get very few games and moving him on frees up the wage bill. The energetic Frenchman has served the club well but looks off-pace in recent times.
Mourinho should look to sell him on and ask the club to accept an offer if Inter Milan come forward with one. He has one too many midfielders in the squad and Sissoko’s absence is unlikely to be felt much given he is a squad option at best.
