Why Talles Magno would be a good future investment for Liverpool

According to claims from Sport Witness, as cited by the Liverpool Echo, Premier League champions Liverpool have set their sights on signing highly-rated Brazilian starlet Talles Magno. The 18-year-old, who currently plies his trade with Vasco da Gama, impressed at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup and was instrumental as Brazil won their fourth title.

The Reds have made an approach for the teenager but are yet to submit a formal offer, with the report suggesting that the Premier League champions are keen to gather more information on the player.

Profile

Born in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil, Talles Magno rose through the youth ranks of Vasco da Gama and has made 17 first-team appearances for his boyhood club so far, scoring twice and assisting once in the process.

The 18-year-old was an integral part of the Brazil squad that lifted the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup title on home soil, scoring in group stage wins over New Zealand and Angola.

Standing at 6ft 1in, Magno has already developed pretty well physically to rub shoulders with the big boys in senior men’s football. Essentially a left-footed centre-forward by trade, Magno has also shown the versatility to play as a wide forward on either flank.

Why Liverpool should sign him

Liverpool might not have spent an awful lot over the past 12 months to upgrade their first-team squad but the Reds have continued to scour the continent for some top-quality young talent.

The likes of Ki-Jana Hoever, Sepp van den Berg, Harvey Elliott, and most recently Polish starlet Matuesz Musialowski have all joined the ranks at Anfield and Magno would be yet another quality addition to an exciting pool of rising talent.

With Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster yet to prove their credentials as capable back-ups for first-choice striker Roberto Firmino, the Reds can certainly look at Magno as someone they can groom for the future.
