Why Przemyslaw Placheta to Norwich City would bolster their attack

As per Polish website Weszlo.com (h/t Norwich Evening News), Norwich City are closing in on a move for Slask Wroclaw star Przemyslaw Placheta.

Placheta, 22, spent time at the academy of MKS Polonia Warszawa before joining Bundesliga out RB Leipzig’s youth system. He previously played for RB Leipzig as a youngster, while he also had a  brief spell with German third division side Sonnenhof Grossaspach, before returning to his native country in 2018.

Since then, he has been in scintillating form. He helped Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biala claim the top spot in Poland’s second tier, contributing with 6 goals and 2 assists in 26 1 Liga games. He earned a move to Slack Wroclaw last summer, where he has continued with the fine run of form.

The report also suggests that Spanish outfit Real Valladolid and Greek giants Olympiakos are also interested in signing the speedster.

Norwich City, meanwhile, have been poor since their return to the top flight. Daniel Farke’s men have been inconsistent throughout the campaign and have failed as a unit. With just 5 wins and 25 defeats, Norwich have been relegated to the Championship with two games remaining.

However, it is time for the manager to focus on returning to the Premier League at the earliest and for that, they need to strengthen the squad by bringing in reinforcements. With their relegation confirmed, some of the key players may decide to leave in the hopes of playing in the top flight and this would reduce the depth in the squad.

Placheta would add more in the wide areas for Norwich

While Farke has a lot of work to do in the summer, he should focus on strengthening the wide areas. At the moment, the Canaries have just three wingers in their ranks. Emiliano Buendia has been one of their best players, scoring 1 goal and providing 7 assists so far in the campaign.

The other two wingers are, Onel Hernandez and Daniel Sinani. Hernandez did well earlier in the campaign but since his return from injury, he has featured less and has racked up just 1 goal and 2 assists so far. And Sinani joined the club only this month.

However, Buendia has been targeted by several clubs and if he leaves, their numbers would be reduced. Thus, a winger is a must in the summer.

In that regard, signing Placheta is a sensible option for the club. The Polish youngster has been in sensational form for Wroclaw this term, bagging 8 goals and 5 assists in 35 Ekstraklasa games. His signing would provide Norwich with depth in the wide areas.

The Polish U21 international is also capable of operating in a left-back role and his versatility would come in handy for the manager. He would also bring in healthy competition to the team. Thus, his inclusion to the squad would be a wise decision.

Verdict

With Buendia’s future at the club uncertain, it is necessary for Norwich to bring in wingers to the squad. And Placheta has the quality to succeed at a higher level. He can provide them with the much-needed extra goals, something the Canaries have lacked this term.
