Why Morgan Gibbs-White would be a future investment for West Ham

According to Daily Mail, West Ham are interested in signing Wolves youngster Morgan Gibbs-White. The 20-year-old is a product of Wolves youth academy. The youngster came to prominence with his displays in the U17 World Cup back in 2017.

He was a key member of the squad and also scored a goal in the final against Brazil When England lifted the title. He was also a part of the Wolves squad which won the Championship in 2017/18.

The midfielder also got his fair share of opportunities last season in the top-flight. However, due to the big names in the squad, he has not played more than 7 league games this season. Thus, West Ham should take advantage of his lack of game time and make a move for Gibbs-White this summer.

Gibbs-White could be a fantastic future prospect for West Ham

At the moment, West Ham have four central midfielders in their ranks. Mark Noble has been a mainstay for the Hammers while Declan Rice has been brilliant throughout the campaign. They have also signed Tomas Soucek on a permanent. Former Arsenal man Jack Wilshere is the only midfielder but he has had his own issues with injuries for a long time.

However, Noble is already 33 and reaching the twilight of his career, and young Rice has been linked with Chelsea. The English international’s future with the club is uncertain as he has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea. Thus, bringing in young midfielders would help them secure the future of their midfield.

In that regard, making a move for Gibbs-White would be a sensible decision. The English U21 international may not have played enough this season to stake his claim but he has already shown immense potential in the youth levels. Despite being just 20, the youngster has already made 70 appearances for the Midlands club and is one of the brightest young prospects in the country.
