Why Manchester United should launch a move for Bayern star Kingsley Coman

According to Daily Mail, Bayern Munich received no offers for Kingsley Coman from Manchester United. Their sporting director clarified the situation and said that Coman is still a vital part of their plans. It was thought that Manchester United considered the Frenchman as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Kingsley Coman rose through the youth ranks of Paris Saint-German, making his professional debut for his boyhood club during the 2012-13 season. He made only a handful of first-team appearances for the French giants before completing a move to Juventus in 2014.

The 24-year-old played a bit-part role at Juventus during the 2014-15 season. He signed for Bayern Munich on a two-season loan deal. Coman’s stay was made permanent in 2017. The Frenchman has gradually established himself as one of the key cogs in Bayern’s attack over the seasons.

Coman has accumulated an impressive tally of 33 goals and 35 assists in 163 appearances (source – Transfermarkt) for the Bavarian giants across all competitions. He has won 5 Bundesliga titles, 4 domestic cups and the Champions League. He scored the all-important goal in the Champions League final to wrap up the treble last season.

Coman was a regular for the France youth sides and also has 24 appearances for the senior side, with 4 goals to his name. He is well known for his blistering pace and it’s safe to term him as a speed demon.

Why Manchester United should launch a bid for Coman

While Manchester United did add the likes of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo to their ranks, they are far too young to make an instant impact. The club needs established stars in the team.

Kingsley Coman is facing a lot more competition this season at Munich with the new arrivals of Leroy Sane and Douglas Costa. At United, he could well be an undisputed starter. The Red Devils have a decent starting XI but every time there is an injury, the club goes into panic mode and tries to sign someone. Case in point being Odion Ighalo in January.
