Why Manchester United should reignite their interest in Ryan Fraser

According to Daily Record, Manchester United made an inquiry for Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser in the January transfer window but a deal did not take place.

The report also suggests that the Cherries rejected the offer for Fraser along with one for his team-mate Josh King. Later, Manchester United completed a loan deal for Odion Ighalo.

The Red Devils have lacked consistency throughout the season and the draw against Wolves has pushed them to 7th place in the league table. Prior to the game, they won against Manchester City in the EFL Cup but could not maintain the momentum.

The attacking unit has looked weak ever since Marcus Rashford got injured. To make matters worse, Anthony Martial has not done well so far and has contributed just 8 goals.

On the flank, Jesse Lingard is having a miserable season as he has neither scored nor assisted. On the other hand, Daniel James started his United career on a high, scoring 3 goals in August but hasn’t found the target since then.

Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira have also been unconvincing and therefore, Solskjaer must add quality players to the squad when the summer transfer window opens.

After signing Bruno Fernandes to improve the midfield last month, adding a winger to the squad is.necessary and Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser would be a good option.

Fraser, 25, who came through Aberdeen’s youth ranks, moved to Dean Court in the summer of 2013 after featuring in 23 games for the Dons. Although he featured regularly for the Cherries in his first two seasons, he was sent on loan to Ipswich Town.

A left-winger by trade, the 25-year-old is capable of performing well on the opposite side too and he can also play as an attacking midfielder, doing so in two games for the Cherries last season.

Verdict

Having played for many years in England, his experience would come in handy for the Red Devils. Therefore, Manchester United rekindle their interest in the Scottish forward.
