Why Manchester United should block Paul Pogba’s exit

French international midfielder Paul Pogba remains hell-bent on departing Manchester United in a move that will probably occur next summer, according to The Sun.

The midfielder outlined this intention to leave United in the summer (h/t The Sun), despite netting 16 goals in all competitions last season.

In a bit more than 4 months, Pogba has played merely 6 matches. At the end of August, he suffered a sensory loss of the lower leg, specifically in the area above the medial malleolus. This prevented him from joining up with France in September. In recent times, Les Bleus have been a welcome holiday for Pogba – a place where he seems to actually enjoy football.

Pogba has been out since the end of September with an ankle injury and his return was further delayed after that. Amidst all this, there have been further questions over the France star’s commitment to United.

However, just as they did last summer, United would be wise to stand firm against any bids for their ace midfielder. World Cup winner Pogba has 18 months left on his contract – although the Red Devils have the option to extend it by another year.

The 26-year-old World Cup winner finished the previous season by scoring the most for the Red Devils, with 13 goals and 9 assists. United might have finished outside the top-four and failed to lift any serious silverware but Pogba put in a strong showing during an up-and-down campaign at Old Trafford.

Having been United’s most influential player in the recent past, it is a no-brainer for the club to block a possible exit for Paul Pogba.
