Why Liverpool signing Fabian Ruiz would be a brilliant move
According to The Express, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made Napoli star Fabian Ruiz one of his top midfield targets in the summer.
Ruiz, 23, came through the ranks of Real Betis’ youth system and burst on to the scene in the 2016/17 season. The following summer, he was signed by Serie A outfit Napoli and has been one of the best players in the past two seasons.
The Spaniard was also crucial for his nation’s U21 side, which won the U21 European Championship last year. He was instrumental in the win against Germany, where he racked up 1 goal and 1 assist in the final. He has gone on to represent Spain’s senior squad 6 times so far and is one of the most exciting midfielders in Europe.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been dominant in the Premier League throughout the campaign, after losing the title last term by just 1 point. Jurgen Klopp has managed to lift the team from the shambles a few years back and has also helped them with the Champions League last season.
The Reds have been successful in every department so far. The forwards – Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have been excellent up front, scoring 66 goals. At the same time, their defensive unit consisting of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, has conceded only 21 goals which is the best defensive record in the league.
In the midfield, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum have also done a decent job so far, with Naby Keita and James Milner available too. However, Milner is quite old and may not be there for the long-term. Therefore, the manager should look to strengthen the midfield. In that case, Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz would be a good choice.
The 23-year-old has taken his game to the next level in Italy. He racked up 6 goals and 3 assists last season and has followed it with 3 goals and 3 assists this term. He has been a regular under both Carlo Ancelotti and Genaro Gattuso and is a key player of the side.

Milner is already 34 and needs a replacement and Keita has had his injury issues. Hence, a central midfielder is the need of the hour for the Reds.
Therefore, Liverpool have to do everything possible to lure Ruiz to Anfield in the summer.
