Why Leicester City should make a move for Alfredo Morelos
A report in Colombia (h/t Daily Record), suggests that Leicester City are preparing a bid for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos ahead of the summer transfer window.
Morelos, 23, came through the ranks of Independiente Medellin’s youth system and joined Finnish side Helsinki initially on loan. In two seasons in Finland, he racked up a staggering 46 goals and 13 assists in 62 games and was picked by Rangers in the summer of 2017.
Since his arrival in Ibrox, he has gone on to develop himself into a proper striker and has been a key member under Steven Gerrard. The report also suggests that Qatar side Al-Duhail are also keen on signing the striker. Thus, Leicester City should make a move for Morelos at the earliest.
Star striker Jamie Vardy has led the line in fine fashion and defensive duo Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu have stood their ground firm. Leicester have conceded just 28 goals so far and boast of the third-best defensive record in the Premier League.
However, its time for the manager to bring some changes to the squad if they are to be successful next season. With Champions League qualification in reaching distance, they need to enhance the core strength.
Morelos can be a future leader in the attack for Leicester City
One area the manager should focus on strengthening is the centre-forward position. Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho are the two main strikers available in the squad. While the Englishman has led the team brilliantly, scoring 19 goals this term, Iheanacho has also done a decent job whenever he was called up.
However, Vardy is already 33 and reaching the twilight of his career and there is only one other option available for Rodgers. Thus, they need to bring in young and fresh faces to the squad to continue from where Vardy stops.
In that regard, signing Morelos would be a massive boost for the future. The Colombian has scored 12 goals in 26 games this term after an impressive last season, where he banged in 30 goals in 48 games across all competitions.
Morelos has been consistent over the past few years, scoring more than 10 goals in each of the last 5 league seasons. And with experience, he could develop himself into a leader for the Foxes up front.

With Vardy already 33 and a lack of depth in the striking department, the Foxes should make a move this summer. And Morelos has the ability to do well at the highest level. He would also provide some much-needed depth to Leicester’s attack. Thus, they should lure the prolific Colombian to the King Power stadium this summer.
