Why Leicester City should go all out and sign Arnaud Lusamba
According to Daily Mail, Leicester City are leading the race to sign Nice midfielder Arnaud Lusamba ahead of Brighton, Sporting Lisbon and Crystal Palace, all of whom are also interested in him.
Lusamba, 23, came through AS Nancy’s youth ranks and was promoted to the club’s senior side in 2016. He scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 53 appearances for Nancy before moving to Nice two years later.
He initially found it difficult to make to Nice’s starting XI and moved on loan to Cercle Brugge last season. After a disappointing loan spell in Belgium, he returned to his parent club and has featured in 13 Ligue 1 games this season, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists.
A central midfielder by trade, Lusamba is capable of playing in various positions. He is accustomed to both the deep-lying role and in helping the attack. As per Transfermarkt, he has also played as a centre-forward and as a left-winger earlier. And Leicester City should make a move for him as his versatile nature of play would be helpful for Brendan Rodgers.
The Foxes were flying high with their success earlier in the campaign and reached the second position in the league table. However, back-to-back losses to Manchester City and Liverpool in December halted their progress.
They are currently 3rd in the league table and are at risk of losing Champions League qualification with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham pushing hard to move higher up.
They have several midfielders in their ranks but very few of them have been playing regularly. Matty James, Nampalys Mendy and Daniel Amartey haven’t featured regularly as they haven’t yet convinced the manager for a spot in the starting XI and this leaves the Foxes with limited players in the midfield.
Therefore, Rodgers must look to add competition within his squad and improve the depth. In that case, Arnaud Lusamba would be a good choice for the club.
After struggling initially, the 23-year-old has made it to Patrick Vieira’s squad and looks promising. His inclusion in Leicester’s squad would also bring in a healthy competition with the team. And he can be a suitable replacement for Marc Albrighton, who is in the twilight of his career.

Verdict
Rodgers has used few midfielders regularly with the rest of them still unconvincing and therefore, he should look to add depth in his squad. And the French U21 international would be a viable option.
Therefore, the Foxes must be able to sign him in the summer as he can be their player in the long run.
