Why Leicester City must stop their pursuit of Abdulkadir Parmak
As per Turkish outlet Asist Analiz (h/t Leicestershire Live), Leicester City have made a bid for Trabzonspor star Abdulkadir Parmak ahead of the summer transfer window.
Having spent time at the academies of Yenimahallespor and Yalispor, Parmak, 25, joined Trabzonspor’s U18 side in 2011. However, since then, he had spent most of his career on loan spells. He played for clubs like Umraniyespor, Altinordu and Adana Demirspor before returning to his parent club in the summer of 2018.
Since then, he has been a regular member of the squad and has made 43 appearances for the Turkish outfit this term, helping his side reach the 2nd position in the Super Lig table with a game in hand. He has caught everyone’s attention with his performances and also earned his first cap for Turkey last September.
Leicester cannot expect Parmak to be productive in the midfield
At the moment, the Foxes are not at their best. Brendan Rodgers’ men have been inconsistent in the last few months and have managed to win just 2 of their last 8 league games.
Leicester, at the moment, have a plethora of midfielders in their ranks. Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes and James Maddison are the main midfielders in the squad. They have been regular starters and have done an excellent job so far.
Apart from them, Marc Albrighton has been decent whenever called upon. Dennis Praet and Bartosz Kapustka are also available at the manager’s disposal.
With plenty of options available, it would be wise of the club to stop their attempt to sign Turkish international and Trabzonspor midfielder Parmak. He has been at his best for the Turkish outfit but has managed just 3 goals and 3 assists in 43 games across all competitions. And his contribution may not be sufficient for the Foxes.
Even if they sign him, he would mostly end up on the bench due to the other youngsters in the squad, who already have experience in English football and have a lot more to offer in the future. And that would just make them waste their resources. Thus, keeping their eyes of the Turkish international would do them good.

Verdict
Rodgers has some excellent midfielders at his disposal and he should manage to keep hold of them all. In doing so, they will have a better team for next season. Instead of going for a midfielder in the market, Leicester should look to bring in reinforcements to other key areas.
