The report suggests that the Brazilian could be available for £14.3m but the Whites would face competition to secure his services. Last month, the Daily Star reported that Premier League sides Arsenal, West Ham, and Everton are also interested in signing the midfielder.

Born in Brazil, Rafinha flourished through the La Masia academy and made his debut in the 2011/12 campaign. He had previously spent time with Celta Vigo and Inter Milan on loan spells. The midfielder later became a key part of the Catalans squad and helped them lift three La Liga titles, one Champions League title, and five Spanish Cup titles.

However, he was on the move again on a loan spell to Celta Vigo last season and racked up 4 goals and 2 assists in 30 games in all competitions for the Galicia side. And now, the report suggests that the Catalan giants are willing to sell him.

Rafinha – An experienced campaigner for Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa has done a wonderful job in the transfer window as he continues to prepare for life in the Premier League. The Whites have made nine signings so far and should look to add a few more new faces ahead of the start of the new season next week.

At the moment, Pablo Hernandez is the only option in the attacking midfield role for Leeds. The Spaniard was one of the key players in their promotion success. However, he is already 35 and with the intensity of the top flight, he may not be available week in and week out. Thus, the Yorkshire outfit should consider bringing in a creative midfielder this summer.

In that regard, taking a gamble on Rafinha could pay them well. The Brazilian has made over 250 appearances at a higher level and his experience could come in handy for the manager. He is also capable of operating from a deeper role and is adept at playing on the flanks as well.

His inclusion would definitely add some much-needed quality to the squad as he also has Champions League experience. He would also provide them with the depth in various positions and could be crucial if he is able to perform at his best. Though his numbers may not be among the best, Rafinha is capable of scoring goals from the middle of the park.

Verdict

With Hernandez ageing, it is clear that Leeds are in dire need of creative options and Rafinha could be more than just a squad player if he is given the right amount of opportunities. Thus, Leeds should manage to lure the 27-year-old experienced campaigner to Elland Road this summer.
