Why Leeds United should invest in Yasser Larouci for the future

According to Goal (h/t Leeds United) Leeds United are interested in signing Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci in the summer.

Larouci, 19, joined Liverpool’s U18 side in 2017 from French outfit Le Havre’s academy, where he was highly rated. Since then, he has been a regular member of the Reds’ U18 and U23 sides. The youngster played a key role in the club’s FA Youth Cup win over Manchester City last season and is one of the best players’ in the youth teams.

Though he is still a U23 player, he made his senior debut in the FA Cup third-round win over Everton earlier in the campaign. However, the report suggests that Larouci wants to move elsewhere in order to get regular game time.

Thus, Leeds United should make a move for the left-back at the earliest. But they may have to face competition to secure his services as Brentford are also keen on signing him, as per the report.

Larouci would be a good young addition to Leeds United

Speaking of strengthening the squad, one key area the manager should strengthen is the full-back area. At the moment, there are four left-backs available at the manager’s disposal – Barry Douglas, Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Leif Davis.

However, Dallas is the only regular starter at left-back as Alioski has been used higher up the pitch throughout the campaign. Douglas has done well but he has been used rarely but he is already 30. Davis is the only one left, who could be used in the future. Thus, signing a left-back in the summer would be sensible.

To that end, Larouci would be a suitable option for the Championship winners. The youngster has already featured for Liverpool’s senior team and has gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years. He could be used as an understudy to Dallas at the moment. He has shown immense potential with the youth side and still has a lot of room for development.
